Jay-Z fans are outraged after the rapper called himself “young” in a statement where he denied raping a 13-year-old girl with Diddy.
The 55-year-old rapper, whose real name is Shawn Corey Carter, issued a statement denying the allegations through the Roc Nation X account.
The rapper said the allegations were “so egregious in nature” and were all “idiotic claims,” calling the lawsuit a “blackmail attempt.”
‘We don’t play these types of games. We have very strict codes and honor,” Carter wrote in response to allegations in an updated complaint in a civil case against Sean Combs that alleged a girl was raped at an MTV after-party in 2000.
However, his fans were offended when the rapper referred to himself as a “young man who made it out of the Brooklyn project.”
‘Did Jay-Z refer to himself as a “young man” in his statement?’ one wrote along with a Google screenshot revealing Carter’s current age of 55 years old.
“Jay-Z calls himself a ‘young man’ from Brooklyn, as if, yeah, one of those things is true,” wrote another.
‘Is Jay-Z labeling himself a young man in 2024? Imagine how young he felt in the year 2000 with a 13-year-old boy…’ wrote a third.

‘The funniest part of that Roc Nation statement is that Jay-Z calls himself young. Weren’t you like you were in your twenties when the Soviet empire collapsed? a fourth wrote.
Another made a similar statement, writing: “Jay-Z called himself young even though he was 24 when South Africa was first declared a democratic state.”
Another wrote: “Jay-Z calling himself a young man at 55 is something.”
“Roc Nation should have had a professional/legal response prepared if they knew something like this was going to happen,” one wrote.
‘I hope they have a GOOD legal defense. Not just for (attorney Tony) Buzbee, but to put an end to all the other accusations that are sure to come through this open door.’
“This feels weird,” another X user wrote about the allegations against the father of three, who shares his children with singer Beyoncé, who was recently named Billboard’s Top Pop Star.
‘Everything this man and his wife have done for almost two decades seems as if it had been pre-tested in a focus group by a PR team. And except for the fight in the elevator, his public profile has been pretty impeccable. I don’t know, this seems…just weird.’
Jay-Z accused Buzbee of taking on the case for “personal gain” and wrote, “What I had calculated was the nature of these allegations and public scrutiny would make me want to settle.”

‘No sir, it had the opposite effect! It made me want to expose you for the fraud that you are VERY publicly,” he continued. ‘So no, I won’t give you EVEN A RED CENT!!’
These allegations are so egregious in nature that I implore you to file a criminal complaint, not a civil complaint!! Whoever committed such a crime against a minor should be locked up, don’t you think? These alleged victims would deserve true justice if that were the case,’ he continued.
‘This lawyer, who I’ve done some research on, seems to have a pattern for this kind of theatrics! I have no idea how you came to be such a deplorable human being, Mr. Buzbee, but I promise you that I have seen your species many times. “I’m more than prepared to deal with your kind,” he added.
‘You claim to be a marine?! Marines are known for their bravery, you have no honor or dignity.
The rapper then mentioned that it’s “unfair” that his family, particularly his eldest daughter, Blue Ivy, is also affected by the lawsuit. She also shares seven-year-old twins Rumi and Sir.
“My only anguish is for my family,” he wrote. ‘My wife and I will have to sit down with our children, one of whom is of an age where his friends will surely see the press and ask questions about the nature of these claims and explain the cruelty and greed of people.
“I mourn another loss of innocence,” he wrote.
‘Children should not have to endure this at such a young age. “It is unfair to have to try to understand inexplicable degrees of malice aimed at destroying families and the human spirit,” he added.
Jay-Z issued a statement following the allegations.
Attorney Tony Buzbee accused the rapper of harassing his family and colleagues after the allegation came to light.
“My heart and support go out to the real victims of the world who have to watch as this ambulance chaser in a cheap suit disguises his life story for profit.”
‘You have made a terrible error in judgment by thinking that all “celebrities” are the same. I’m not from your world,’ he wrote.
Buzbee later accused Jay-Z of harassing his family and colleagues.
‘Do you recognize this guy?’ Buzbee asked as he shared the photo from his time in the Marine Corps. This is a photograph of the Weapons Platoon Commander, Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 4th Marines, from our old book on Western Pacific cruises.
‘Despite a coordinated and aggressive effort that has included harassing my children, contacting my clients and former clients to encourage them to sue me, contacting my colleagues and former employees to ask if I have “abused” them, showing up at the house from my current employee to harass them, file frivolous cases against me and my law firm, defame me with outrageous claims to anyone who will listen, and have mysterious people follow me and my family, I’m still THAT guy.
“I will not be intimidated or harassed,” he continued.
Buzbee represents clients who claim they were abused by Combs, 55.
Combs has been separately charged with sex trafficking and extortion.
Federal prosecutors allege that Combs sexually abused women and forced them to participate in drug-fueled sex parties through threats and violence.
He has pleaded not guilty to all charges and his criminal trial is scheduled to begin on May 5, 2025.
