Jason Whitlock has offered a theory as to why Caitlin Clark has struggled at times during her young WNBA career.
In the wake of back-to-back losses, the controversial podcaster said he believes the Indiana Fever star has made it “too easy” for competitors to defend her.
“She’s 20 games into her WNBA career and Caitlin Clark is too easy to guard,” she wrote on X on Sunday afternoon.
“He hardly takes any easy shots because he doesn’t hunt them down. I love the way he plays. But constantly hitting difficult balls from 27 feet isn’t going to work.”
Many of Whitlock’s fans agreed with him and offered their own thoughts on how the 22-year-old was adjusting to the league after a stellar college career.

“Caitlin Clark does a phenomenal job of getting her teammates easy looks, but her teammates don’t know how to help her get an easy shot. She will evolve, she definitely needs to be more aggressive with her attacks and attempts,” one fan tweeted.
“I think she’s exhausted from the long college season and then the crazy WNBA schedule,” another suggested.
A third noted that she “hasn’t looked great in recent games,” adding: “I guess the coach isn’t motivating her and the offensive scheme seems disorganized.”
It comes just days after the rookie superstar made a surprising admission about her coach, Christie Sides.
Following the Fever’s loss to the Storm last week, the Iowa alum was asked what the best game advice she has received so far this season.

The rookie hinted that she doesn’t get any advice from Sides during Fever games.
“Nobody gives me advice in the game. I wish,” he admitted.
Although he was asked specifically about his teammates’ advice, his response opened Sides to fierce criticism on social media.
‘@fever Remind me again… Why is @ChristieSides the head coach again?’ one person wrote.
“Oh Christie Sides count your days,” another chimed in.
Meanwhile, a third added: “COACH could do that…”
Clark, the No. 1 pick in this year’s WNBA Draft, is enjoying a breakneck rookie season after breaking a number of records in her storied college career.
While he has been at the center of widespread controversy surrounding his rise to fame, he is already justifying the hype on the court, leading the way for rookies when it comes to points per game with 16.2.
