Jason Whitlock wonders if CBS or Fox bothered to report on the second assassination attempt on Donald Trump during Sunday's NFL broadcasts.

Conservative sports podcaster Jason Whitlock questions whether CBS or Fox bothered to report on the second assassination attempt on Donald Trump during Sunday’s NFL broadcasts.

“The timing of the 60 Minutes article on Trump and J/6 couldn’t be worse,” Whitlock wrote in X after CBS News aired a segment on the ongoing investigations into the U.S. Capitol riots on January 6, 2021.

“There was a second assassination attempt today,” the Trump supporter continued. “I feel sick watching sports all day. Did any NFL broadcast mention the attempted assassination of Trump?”

Other viewers agreed with Whitlock, but his anger at CBS and Fox may be unfounded. Some CBS viewers explained on X that the network reported on the failed assassination attempt during halftime of Sunday’s game between the Chiefs and Bengals.

DailyMail.com learned this after CBS News aired a special report during the first window of NFL games on Sunday, ahead of a full report during halftime of afternoon games. Fox Sports spokespeople have not yet responded to DailyMail.com’s request for clarification.

Some agreed with Whitlock, while others claimed CBS reported the shooting on Sunday.

The former president and current Republican candidate for the Oval Office was the target of an assassination attempt on Sunday at his club in West Palm Beach, Florida, according to the FBI. He was not injured, while the suspected shooter, Ryan Wesley Routh, was arrested.

This is Trump’s second failed assassination attempt during the 2024 campaign after he previously survived a shooting in Butler, Pennsylvania, on July 13.

The shooter, Thomas Matthew Crooks, missed Trump but killed Corey Comperatore, who had attended the rally for 50 years. Crooks was eventually killed by Secret Service snipers.

While Whitlock was upset not to see more coverage of Trump during Sunday’s NFL games, many football fans were quick to dismiss the shooting in favor of their favorite teams.

“Even a second assassination attempt on Trump isn’t enough to make the major networks stop showing NFL football,” one fan commented.

“Trump trying to get sympathy votes while the NFL is playing on Sunday is just disrespectful,” another added, baselessly suggesting the shooting was a hoax.

The former president was already dominating the news during Sunday’s NFL game after writing “I HATE TAYLOR SWIFT” on Truth Social.

Swift’s recent endorsement of Kamala Harris’s presidential bid generated some 338,000 visits to Vote.gov, a federal voter registration website she linked to in last week’s Instagram post about the vice president.

Trump had already criticized her this week, saying he likes “Mrs. Mahomes a lot more,” referring to Brittany, the wife of Chiefs quarterback Patrick. Brittany recently expressed her support for Trump’s 20-point platform by liking one of his campaign Instagram posts. Since then, conservatives and liberals have both praised and criticized her for her support of Trump.
