Jason Kelce said he spent most of his career at 295 pounds

Jason Kelce has been retired from the NFL since March, and the Eagles big man has quickly shed a few pounds from his massive frame.

The former offensive lineman, who played most of his career at 295 pounds, he told GQ which is now down to 277, although there is a limit to how much he wants to lose.

“Right now I’m about 277 years old,” he said. ‘…It’s hard to imagine losing another almost 20 pounds, to be honest with you. But my back feels better now. My knees feel better already. So I hope that another 20 kilos will make me much more skilled at playing with my children.’

The 36-year-old father of three (he shares three daughters with wife Kylie) added: “I don’t want to get too small. I think a lot of guys, especially offensive linemen, lose too much weight and then they look like dolls because their neck gets so small, but their head stays the same size.

“For some reason, I feel like at 250 or 260 I’ll still be big and happy with the way I look without having a six-pack, but I’ll still be able to maintain that height a little bit.”

Jason will now be able to spend more time with his and Kylie’s daughters: four-year-old Wyatt, three-year-old Elliotte, and one-year-old Bennett.

However, he won’t be retiring from work completely as he will be joining ESPN’s Monday Night Football team.

That role, of course, will keep him away from the type of injuries he frequently suffered in the NFL.

Kelce had his knee reconstructed twice, broke his toes and also had surgery on his hand and groin.

“Everyone leaves the league with some type of handicap,” he told GQ.

“I have to leave the sport with those scars, but for all intents and purposes, I can play with my kids. I can still fully enjoy life, which I consider a blessing, whether you played in the NFL or not.”

Jason and Kylie, 31, tied the knot on April 14, 2018.

They then had their eldest daughter, Wyatt, in October 2019, followed by Elliotte in March 2021 and Bennett in February 2023.
