Australian professional golfer Jason Day was hilariously caught swearing at the PGA Championship over a hot microphone, while reacting strongly to a bad tee shot.

Starting on the par-four sixth hole at Valhalla Golf Club on Sunday, Day, 36, hit a 156-mph tee shot with a 134-foot apex, but the ball veered well off its intended target.

‘Good job knocking down this hole and the extreme challenge it poses. A lot has to do with the street. You can’t just let it break. You have to play for position off the tee…’ an ESPN play-by-play announcer said before the hot mic broadcast the funniest moment of the final day of the tournament.

‘We are!’ a frustrated Day lamented after his swing.

The 2015 PGA Championship winner entered hole number 6 at 7 under par, eight strokes behind Xander Schauffele.

He was tied for 38th at Kentucky with four other players, including Max Homa, at the time.

In the first round, he shot tied at 71.

In the second round, he stepped up his game to avoid the cut and shot four under par to make it into the third and fourth rounds.

In the third round, Day shot 69 and is one under par through five holes on Sunday.

Unlike compatriot Cameron Smith, who joined LIV in 2022, Day remains a member of the PGA Tour. He has been a member of the Tour since 2006.
