The death of troubled oil heir Jason Davis is reportedly investigated as a possible overdose of heroin.
The 35-year-old, who expressed the character of Michael ‘Mikey’ Blumberg in the Disney animated series Recess, was no longer found in the bathroom in his home in Los Angeles on Sunday morning, TMZ reported.
Law enforcement sources told the outlet that items were found in the vicinity of Jason that are consistent with heroin or opioid use, including burnt foil and other paraphernalia.
The official cause of death has not yet been established, as an autopsy and toxicological analysis are pending.
Years ago, Davis publicly fought addiction to heroin, OxyContin and Xanax, after he joined Dr. Drew on VH1’s Celebrity Rehab had appeared.
He is recently co-founder of Cure Addiction Now, an organization that helps fund research to stop the substance abuse cycle.

Davis was arrested and charged with heroin possession in Newport Beach, California in January 2011, about a year after his stay at Celebrity Rehab.
Those charges were eventually withdrawn after Davis had completed a drug program.
He appeared on a reunion episode of Celebrity Rehab, who seemed to have filmed days before his arrest and revealed that he was sober for 90 days.
Davis told about how he had relapsed twice before moving to Newport Beach to start “a new life.”
“I finally got it this time,” he told Dr. Drew. “I’m done fighting. All I have done all my life is fighting.
“It was more or less time to take this opportunity to say,” I see. I have now devoted my entire life to austerity. “
When Dr. Drew brought up the impact addiction on his loved ones, Davis said: ‘I frighten everyone. Because I do scary things when I’m high. ”

Davis, nicknamed ‘Gummi Bear’ by his fans, is best known for the character of ‘soft giant’ Mikey in Recess from his series premiere in August 1997 to his conclusion in November 2001, as well as in films based on the Disney series.

His other acting credits are pieces on Roseanne and 7th Heaven and the films Rush Hour and Beverly Hills Ninja.
At the time of his death, Davis worked on a TV program titled The Two Jasons.
“I am so sad to share the saddest news of my life that my son Jason Davis died in Los Angeles this morning. Jason had a real heart of gold with such a zest for life, “Rickel said in a statement The Hollywood Reporter.
“He was such a caring soul for anyone who has ever known him. He especially loved his friends and his family.
