Country music singer Jason Aldean’s wife, Brittany Aldean, attempted to share her side of her feud with fellow country star Maren Morris during a podcast appearance with her husband on Monday.
Brittany, 36, and Jason, 47, joined the Try That In A Small Town podcast as it looked back on the 2022 online uproar in which Maren, 34, called out Brittany for making statements she deemed transphobic.
However, her account of the exchange between her and Maren largely downplayed statements she made criticizing gender-affirming care for transgender people, even as she criticized Morris’s “pro-woman” stance as “nonsense.”
The podcast was seemingly a safe space for her to delve into the contentious online feud, as it is hosted by the four songwriters of Aldean’s hit song, Try That In A Small Town.
The 2023 song topped the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart and the Hot Country Songs chart, but also drew criticism from liberals and moderates who accused it of supporting lynchings and vigilante violence, though Jason, who did not write the song, denied it had that meaning.

She slammed Morris, 34, for supposedly being “pro-woman,” calling his stance “nonsense” in the wake of backlash over transphobic comments; pictured July 15 in Los Angeles.
The original feud between Brittany and Maren began in August 2022, when Brittany shared a getting-together video in which she said, “I would really like to thank my parents for not changing my gender when I went through my tomboy phase. I love this girl life.”
She later referred to “child genital mutilation” in follow-up posts.
In response, country singer Cassadee Pope wrote on Twitter: “You’d think celebrities with beauty brands would see the positives of including LGBTQ+ people in their messaging. But instead, here we are, listening to someone compare their “tomboy phase” to someone who wants to transition. Really nice.”
Maren joined the conversation with a response to Cassadee as she talked about Brittany: “It’s so easy to not be human scum. Sell your extensions and shut up, Uprising Barbie.”
But Brittany’s summary of the online arguments conveniently deleted her original comments about transgender healthcare.

Brittany claimed that Maren and her friends “are just at odds with me for some reason,” though she apparently did not mention the original comments about transgender children that sparked Maren’s ire.

“It’s so easy, so to speak, to not be a despicable human being. Sell your extensions and shut up, Barbie Insurrection,” Maren originally tweeted in 2022 after Brittany claimed parents were forcing their children to change sex; spotted in December in Los Angeles
“He started making fun of my business, which at the time was hair extensions,” she said of Maren’s comment about her clip-ins.
“But for me it’s like going back to the feminist movement again. Aren’t you supposed to be all about peace, love, inclusion and all that? Why are you attacking me like that for my business?” she mused.
Only later did she address her comments that sparked accusations of transphobia.
“I’m thankful my parents didn’t say, ‘Oh, Brit. You love sports, you love Babe Ruth, do you want to be a boy?'” she said, calling the idea “crazy.”
There was seemingly unanimous agreement among guests and hosts — Kurt Allison, Neil Thrasher, Kelley Lovelace and Tully Kennedy — that parents taking the lead in changing the sex of their minor children had become “very common these days.”
However, children who suffer from gender dysphoria (distress caused by a mismatch between a person’s body and their gender identity) go through many stages before receiving treatment.
Parents are advised to support younger children, many of whom may eventually give up. Older children who continue to feel that their body does not correspond to their gender are advised to undergo therapy.
Only if a therapist diagnoses them with gender dysphoria will puberty blockers or hormone replacement therapy be considered. Puberty blockers, which are reversible, are not used before the onset of puberty and some children with gender dysphoria will not feel the need for any kind of hormonal intervention in the first place.
Guidelines created by the Society of Endocrinology They recommend that minors continue taking puberty-blocking drugs for up to two years to allow them to better determine their gender identity before potentially starting hormone replacement therapy in their late teens, when puberty begins.
But Brittany didn’t seem to mind Maren’s nickname for her, “Insurrection Barbie,” and her husband Jason said, “It’s kind of sexy.” They’re seen shaking hands with former president and convicted felon Donald Trump at the Republican National Convention on July 18.
Transgender youth can have the option of having a mastectomy at age 16, although several states governed by Republican legislatures have banned the surgery and even hormone replacement therapy for minors.
The Endocrine Society does not recommend genital surgery for minors, according to American scientist.
Brittany went on to complain about the “headlines” that labeled her “transphobic” following the feud with Maren, but noted that she was happy with the derogatory nickname the country crossover star gave her: “Insurrection Barbie.”
“They called me Uprising Barbie,” she said with a laugh as her husband added, “It’s pretty sexy.”
