Jarryd Hayne broke his silence on social media to send a message to his football friend Latrell Mitchell on State of Origin night.
Hayne, 36, was told this week he will not face a fourth criminal trial for allegedly raping a woman after an appeal against his conviction was successful, although a civil lawsuit still hangs over his head.
After regaining his freedom earlier this month, Hayne has kept a low profile as he reintegrates into life with his family.
But on Wednesday night he re-emerged on social media with a two-word message during New South Wales’ big win over Queensland at the MCG.
‘Trelly glove!!!’ Hayne posted on Facebook how Blues superstar Latrell Mitchell went on a rampage during a dominant first-half display.
Souths fullback Mitchell, 27, had been brought back into the fold by Michael Maguire for the crucial second game, and the Blues needed nothing less than victory to keep the series alive.
Mitchell fulfilled his role at center to perfection and New South Wales beat Queensland 38-18, sending the series to a decider in Brisbane in three weeks.

Hayne is fully aware of the pressures of Origin, having played in the hard-hitting series on 23 occasions. He was part of the Blues’ drought-ending series victory in 2014, the same year he won his second Dally M medal.
Elsewhere, Mitchell Moses rewarded Blues coach Michael Maguire’s bold choice on Wednesday night, despite missing two months of the season with a foot injury.
With NSW starting scrum-half Nathan Cleary unavailable for the series due to a hamstring injury, 29-year-old Moses replaced Nicho Hynes in the NSW number 7 jersey for the second game, while Maguire looked for more refinement in the attack.
Despite struggling to regain his best form for Parramatta since his dismissal, Moses showed the brilliance that makes him one of the NRL’s most creative playmakers.
Moses produced a near-flawless display in the Blues’ 38-18 rout of Queensland to level the series and win the player of the match medal.
He recorded four assists among his seven and kept the Queenslanders on the back foot, kicking 431 metres.
The former football star took to Facebook to praise NSW gun Latrell Mitchell.
He is not normally known for his tough defense, and twice forced a sack from Maroons five-eighth Tom Dearden with strong tackles.
Former NSW coach Phil Gould, who led the Blues to a 14-0 victory in the first Origin match played at the MCG in 1994, said Moses had “come of age”.
“Absolutely stellar,” Gould said in a comment.
‘He (Moses) has come of age on the representative scene tonight.
“He runs the show.”
Former Blues running back Andrew Johns went further and said it was the best game Moises had ever played in any stadium.
