Japanese lacy boxer shorts that ‘glamorise the male part’ and offer amazing ‘front comfort’ SELL OUT

A Japanese manufacturer of “glamorous” lace boxer shorts designed for men was surprised to sell from its stock.

Underwear company Wacoal, which sells the briefs for 3,960 (£24), said the garment is ‘designed to wrap comfortably around the male part’.

It took six months of work by the company’s underwear scientists before sharing the news of the new lace boxer shorts.

Wacoal was initially unsure of the idea so crowdfunded for an initial target of £300,000 in orders (£1,800).

But in the end he hit 1,000% more than that, worth 3.2 million in orders (£19,000).

The sales frenzy then peaked again in the Japanese department store Isetan in Tokyo.

The glamorous menswear department sold out of stock for three months in just 10 days due to the boxer’s popularity among men in their 30s and 40s. The times reported.

Looking at Wacoal’s website today, it was also not possible to buy the boxers in one of seven colors, including red, black, pink, yellow and light blue, or in one of the sizes, medium and large.

Akira Mizoguchi, a Wacoal spokesperson, told Asahi newspaper, “I never expected lace boxers to be such a hit.

‘The boundaries between men and women have disappeared in the world more than I thought.’

The lingerie store writes about the design of the boxer on its website: ‘The design comfortably envelops the male part and attracts glamour.’

And the company adds, “It’s the boxer who pursues ‘beauty’ and ‘comfort’.”

“The lace motif is a mixture of flowers, leaves and geometric shapes so it doesn’t look too sickly,” it says.

‘Because the front part is subject to more stress, we opted for strong yarn with a high stretchability.’

A buyer in his thirties wrote on the website: “It was more fashionable than I imagined. I hope there will be a series in the future.

“I’d be happy if there were also lace underwear that can be worn for men and women.”

Another, also in his thirties, said: ‘The color and design were cute, and there was good sharpness in the transparent and non-transparent areas. It’s no wonder it’s out of stock, but I’d be happy if I could buy it again.”

A customer in their 40s was delighted, saying: ‘It is very comfortable to wear and the front fits perfectly and I love the breathability.

“Just wearing it will brighten your feelings. I bought it before it came on TV so I was surprised to see it by chance.

“I bought navy blue, but now that I think about it, I regret not having the courage to buy pink. If you resell pink, I will definitely buy it. Now all the underwear in my chest of drawers becomes Wacoal’s underwear.”
