Jamie Redknapp has issued a warning to Ange Postecoglou following Tottenham’s 1-0 defeat to Arsenal.

Spurs suffered their second consecutive Premier League defeat this season and their third straight loss in the north London derby at home on Sunday.

Gabriel’s second-half header proved the difference, with the Brazilian leaping highest from Bukayo Saka’s corner.

The defeat has left Tottenham 13th in the table and Redknapp insists they need to start getting results sooner rather than later.

The former midfielder told Sky Sports: “This time last year Spurs were fantastic to watch. We were all talking about the manager and his free-flowing football.

‘At the moment there is no fluidity. If you play well and don’t start winning, there are days like today when the quality drops.

“They have to start getting some results quickly. It’s a fact that at this club, if you don’t win games, you don’t stay on the bench for long, and he has to start winning some games.”

Former Spurs striker Les believes Postecoglou is the right man for the job and insists the north London side are “not far away”.

Asked if he thinks Spurs will win a trophy this season, Ferdinand replied: “Not at the moment. In the first three games of the season they played very well. Today they just lacked that attacking touch.”

“They are not far away. I think he is the right man for Tottenham at the moment and they will do well. Today they lacked quality.

“In the previous games, there has been a lack of personnel in the areas where the ball has been going. It will take Solanke two or three games to get into rhythm. I think Ange is the right man.”

Another trophyless season would extend Spurs’ title drought to 17 years but Postecoglou reaffirmed his belief the long wait will soon be over.

The Australian adopted a defiant tone in his response but could barely hide his irritation at the reporter’s question about whether he could win a trophy in his second season at Spurs.

“Yes, of course,” Postecoglou replied. “Am I going to answer the question or are you going to keep asking it?”

-No, absolutely not. I’ll correct myself. I don’t usually win anything, I always win things in my second year.

“Nothing has changed. I don’t say things unless I believe them.”
