Jamie Oliver's pear tarte tatin tutorial on last week's episode of Jamie: What To Eat This Week raised eyebrows when he made a rather rude comment.

Jamie Oliver returned to the kitchen earlier this month with his new show focusing on autumn produce.

But it was the chef’s pear tarte tatin tutorial on last week’s episode of Jamie: What To Eat This Week that raised eyebrows when he made a rather rude comment.

The TV chef prepared the dessert, which looked delicious, before tasting it and said: “Look at this, it’s absolutely beautiful. A very, very elegant dessert.”

“For me, I always take it from the back because it has that delicious, crunchy edge. So I’m going to get in there and that’s the best part.”

The comment left viewers “choking in water” as they called it “the worst line they’ve ever heard.”

On X, formerly Twitter, after the episode aired on Channel 4, viewers wrote: “One of the worst lines I’ve ever heard in my life.”

‘No one else in the room heard it and I didn’t have the minerals to repeat it.

“I choked on water lol” said @Jamieoliver loving receiving that cake from behind.

In the new series, Jamie heads to the kitchen to serve up autumnal dishes such as roast chicken with aubergine, baked feta with fig and prosciutto salad and green bean casserole.

And the delicious offerings meant it wasn’t just her cheeky comment that sparked reactions, as others praised her dishes.

Viewers said: ‘@jamieoliver I love watching your new series What to Eat. All the recipes are inspiring. Flatbreads, feta, fig salad, blackberry vinegar and pear tarte tatin will be on my list for sure… such easy and inspiring recipes. Thank you.’

‘#jamiewhattoeat that monkfish looks amazing! @jamieoliver.’

This comes after Jamie and his brood enjoyed a Christmas meal with Joe Wicks’ family in August.
