Opening: Jamie Oliver launches cookery school at John Lewis flagship store in London
Jamie Oliver is launching a cookery school and café at John Lewis’ revamped flagship store in London.
The partnership is part of an £800m investment by John Lewis over the next four years to improve its stores and win back middle-class shoppers.
The two classrooms and 50-seat cafeteria will open at the Oxford Street branch in March.
Peter Ruis, the chain’s chief executive, said department stores need “more love” after a period of closures and job losses.
He also said he was “quietly optimistic” about Christmas, adding: “We’ve seen optimism grow into the fall.”
“The buzz is back at John Lewis and we are giving customers even more reasons to shop in our stores, backing it up with significant investment.”
