Jamie Lee Curtis has her sights set on a specific role on Netflix A pieceand the show’s team seems hopeful of making this happen.
Curtis took over Instagram on Friday to address a growing fan movement pushing for the Oscar-winning performer to be cast as Dr. Kureha in the live-action project. Based on the manga series of the same name by Eiichiro Oda, A piece focuses on a boy named Monkey D. Luffy and his fellow Straw Hat Pirates as they search for the titular treasure.
“ONCE the STRIKE against AMTPT greed is settled with a FAIR CONTRACT, I will join the growing fan frenzy in lobbying to become Doctor Kureha in @onepiecenetflix,” Curtis captioned her post.
This prompted Matt Owens, who serves as the series’ co-showrunner alongside Steven Maeda, to write in the comments section: “Mommy dearest, that’s why we sent you that figure! No lobbying necessary. Once we get what we deserve and go back to work, let’s talk!”
Curtis followed up her initial comments with an additional comment after with footage of herself in a media interview to promote 2022’s Halloween ends. During the sit-down about a year ago, the star pointed out that her daughter Ruby Guest encouraged her to see Dr. To play Kureha, a gray-haired doctor on Drum Island.
A piece launched on Netflix last month and was quickly renewed for a second season two weeks later. Oda’s statement about the renewal included a hint at the casting process for Dr. Kureha: “As of now, it seems to me that the Straw Hats need a great doctor… We’ll see!”
