The 66-year-old actress flew to New York City to appear on the show hosted by Jimmy Fallon when fires began to spread through the city she calls home.

She revealed on Instagram on Wednesday that her home is safe, but that many of her neighbors’ homes have been destroyed.

The actress appeared on the show to promote her new movie The Last Showgirl, which hits theaters on January 10, but before talking about the movie, she got emotional while addressing the fires.

‘I’m literally about to cry. Especially for that beautiful welcome,” Curtis began, as the audience began to applaud, and one of them shouted, “You’re beautiful!”

She continued through tears: ‘As you know, the place where I live is on fire right now. Literally, the entire city of Pacific Palisades is burning.

—I flew here last night. I was on the plane and I started getting text messages. And it’s fucking twisted, guys. “It’s just a catastrophe in Southern California,” he said.

‘Obviously, there have been terrible fires in many places. This is literally where I live. All. The market where I buy. The schools my children go to. “Friends, many, many, many, many, many friends have now lost their homes,” he said.

“That’s right, it’s a really terrible situation. “Obviously first thing tomorrow morning I’ll go home and be with my family and try to help my friends,” he continued.

“But it is…just so I can tell you, if you know anyone on the West Coast or not, the American Red Cross, support them,” he said.

‘They will come and help the people. Do everything you can. Anything in your community to help people, whether you need it now or not, you will need it. Donate blood, donate, whatever,’ he said to applause.

“And remember, since I’m in the middle of a very important television show, anyone who lives anywhere, have an emergency kit in their home,” he added.

I am an ambassador for the American Red Cross. Have an emergency kit with prescription glasses, medicine, dog food, baby formula, everything you need if you have to flee,’ he added.

Hours before going on air, he shared a video showing the destruction in Pacific Palisades, where he confirmed that his home is safe.

‘Our beloved neighborhood is gone. Our home is safe. Many others have lost everything. Help where you can. Thanks to the lifeguards and firefighters. @americanredcross,’ he said.

He also shared another Instagram post, showing his beloved church in Pacific Palisades that had caught fire.

“This is the church in Palisades that had a beautiful Sunday school and a school and was a beautiful house of worship and it’s the building where I got sober 25 years ago,” he said.

“I think of all the souls who came there for solace and consolation and of all the baptisms and funerals and weddings and of the thousands of people who reclaimed their lives through sobriety,” he added.

—Also, the Palisades Women’s Club, where I met a lot of sober people. They are both gone. Difficult times. We will persevere. God bless you all,’ he concluded.
