Jamie Lee Curtis (L) has officially reached out to Marvel President Kevin Feige (R) to kiss the ring and apologize for her “stupid” comments about the MCU superhero movies.
“If I’m a leader, then a leader shouldn’t talk shit about other creators of collaborative art forms,” wrote Jamie, who has 11.5 million followers on social media. Instagram.
“My comments about Marvel were stupid and I will do better. I have contacted Kevin Feige and will no longer play in the competitive sandbox we call the Internet or participate in toilet paper promotion or games designed to get clicks, not to generate content or conversation.”
The 51-year-old producer, whose films have grossed a combined $30 billion, showed no signs of slowing down Marvel’s money-making train by reintroducing Robert Downey Jr. at Comic-Con as Doctor Doom in Avengers: Doomsday (2026) and Avengers: Secret Wars (2027).
The latest fifth installment of Kevin, Deadpool & Wolverine, starring Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, is currently the number one film in the world after grossing a staggering $545.9 million (and decent reviews) at the worldwide box office in its first week.
And this wasn’t the first time Curtis has criticized Marvel, as his multi-universe standalone film Everything Everywhere All at Once directly competed with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness at the box office in 2022.
“Is it just me? Do you find it STRANGE that our little movie, which could be and still is the number one movie in America and is truly wonderful, out-wonders every Marvel movie they’ve ever released?” the author of Just One More Sleep wrote At the time.
“And it cost less than the entire design services budget for Doctor Strange and/or any other Marvel movie. Competitive? Hell yeah. I wasn’t a lead animator in high school for nothing.”
Everything Everywhere All at Once ended up earning $143.4 million (on a $14.3 million budget) with very good reviews and Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness grossed $955.8 million (on a budget of $350.6 million) with Moderate reviews.
