Jamie Foxx smiles as he accepts the AAFCA Special Achievement Producers Award nearly a year after being hospitalized with a mystery illness.

Jamie Foxx was at the top of his game Sunday in Los Angeles, when he was honored by the African American Film Critics Association with the Producers Award.

Foxx, 56, was honored by his company Foxxhole Productions at a luncheon held at the Los Angeles Athletic Club.

The Terrell, Texas-born artist wore an all-black ensemble of a Dolce & Gabbana sports jacket over a black T-shirt, pants, and shoes at the event in Southern California.

The Oscar-winning actor donned glasses and sported a goatee at the reunion.

The resurgent star, who is father to daughters Corinne Foxx, 30, and Annalize Bishop, 15, from previous relationships, was honored nearly a year after being hospitalized, leading to a months-long battle to regain his health.

The Collateral star was the center of attention when he gave his speech while being honored at the event.

Foxx was photographed at the event posing alongside actress Jurnee Smollett, 37, actor Courtney B. Vance, 63, and actress Nia Long, 53, among others.

Corinne said in a statement on Instagram on April 12, 2023 that the star had been taken to a hospital after dealing with a ‘medical complication.’

Corinne said the following month that her father was on the road to recovery.

“My dad has been out of the hospital for weeks, recovering,” she said. In fact, yesterday he was playing pickleball! Thank you for everyone’s prayers and support!’

The multi-talented artist had been working in Georgia on the Netflix film Back in Action last year when he had health complications.

After Foxx stopped working on the film, which also stars Cameron Diaz, following his health battle last spring, he was seen on set again earlier this year.

Following a tumultuous period dealing with his health scare, Foxx recently teased a return to stand-up comedy.

“I’m going on someone’s stage near you,” Foxx said last week in an Instagram post. “I have some jokes and a story to tell.”

The Any Given Sunday actor accompanied the comment with a clip from his 2002 HBO special I Might Need Security, in which he performed an impersonation of the late musical legend Prince.

Among the other honorees Sunday was Foxx’s producing partner, Datari Turner, 44, who has collaborated on projects like They Cloned Tyrone, Story Ave and The Burial with the A-list star.

Martin Scorsese’s film Killers of the Flower Moon was honored with the Stanley & Karen Kramer Social Justice Award after “shedding light on the true story of the infamous Osage Nation murders,” the AAFCA said in a statement, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Fatima Robinson, choreographer, received the organization’s Salute to Excellence Award.

Last year, Robinson worked on a number of high-profile projects, including The Color Purple, the Oscars, the Grammys and Renaissance: A Film by Beyoncé.

Filmmaker Deon Taylor, creator of Hidden Empire Film Group, received the Horizon Award, which recognizes him as a “rising talent,” the AAFCA said.

Also honored with the organization’s first Freedom Award was the late activist and marketing professional Michael Latt, who was shot to death at age 36 last fall.

The organization said it was “recognizing his legacy as an exceptional marketing strategist, thought leader and founder of Lead With Love.”

AAFCA President and Co-Founder Gil Robertson said, “Our list this year includes titans and pioneers whose work has transformed the cinematic arts.”

‘His work leaves us in awe of his incredible achievements and inspires us to press forward in all our endeavors with passion, creativity and determination. “The AAFCA looks forward to celebrating them.”
