Jamie Foxx reveals he was in a coma during his health scare, according to an audience member who attended the filming of his new Netflix special live.
The Oscar winner, 56, filmed his upcoming special, titled Jamie Foxx: What Had Happened Was…, in Atlanta, Georgia, in October.
Demecos said of the talented star on stage: ‘It was just pure exhaustion. His body was simply exhausted because he had reached that age, and his body was simply failing.’
Jamie was in Georgia filming her upcoming Netflix movie, Back In Action, with Cameron Diaz at the time of her medical incident, but did not collapse on the set of the film.
Demecos explained: “When he passed out, he thought he had only been out for a few moments.

‘He basically passed out in a lift and thought he woke up a couple of hours later. Well, he was actually in a coma and didn’t wake up until a few weeks later.
The audience member revealed that one of Jamie’s daughters strummed the guitar for her father. The talented actor is father to Corrine, 30, and Annalize, 16.
Demecos said: ‘She plays one of her favorite songs or whatever every day. And he said that was the only thing he remembered hearing in his sleep and it essentially brought him out of his coma.
The audience member went on to reveal that when Jamie woke up, he went to a rehab center and had to work on his motor skills since he “had to start from day one.”
Jamie fans should expect his trademark humor to be a very important part of the show despite the serious nature of some of the content.
Demecos said: ‘As he tells the story, he throws pieces left and right.
“It’s a monologue. He’s dancing a little. He is playing songs on the piano.
In the special, which premieres next week, Jamie expresses deep gratitude to those who prayed and supported his recovery, turning his performance into a moving thank you to his fans.
An attendee named Demecos Chambers told People magazine on Friday that Jamie told the audience he was “literally seconds and moments away from death” when he collapsed in April 2023.
In a newly released trailer for the special, the Oscar and Grammy-winning comedy icon declares, “I’m back and I’m so happy to see you all here.” “I’m very happy to be here.”
He then appears to reveal what happened to him and quips: “What had happened was…”
But before Jamie gets into it, the trailer stops dramatically.
Sharing the trailer on her social media, Jamie encouraged her followers to “come hear my story.”
And the teaser is already resonating with the Law Abiding Citizen actor’s fans, who were so moved they said they had chills.
Commenting on Jamie’s Instagram, one said: ‘Yaaaaassss, this is the promotion I’ve been waiting for!’
‘Goosebumps!!!!!!!!’ another added, while a third wrote: “Just got chills bro.”
A fourth continued: ‘Can’t wait!! “I’m literally so excited about this.”

Jamie’s fans have admitted that they got goosebumps just watching the trailer.
In this upcoming special, coming to Netflix on December 10, Jamie will return to the stage following his hospitalization in 2023.
“If I can stay funny, I can stay alive,” he joked in the first teaser, while setting the record straight with humor and vulnerability.
“This comedy event is a celebration of resilience, humor and the power of community, and reminds us all of the healing power of laughter,” a synopsis previously revealed.
The comedy event is one of several upcoming projects the A-list actor has on the books, as he headlines the comedy film Back in Action for the streaming service in a reunion with Any Given Sunday and his Annie co-star Cameron Diaz .
The film is expected to begin streaming on January 17, 2025.
Jamie has yet to divulge exactly what happened during his health scare, but in December 2023 he made his first official public appearance since April 2023.
At the time, the Django Unchained star admitted he “couldn’t walk” six months earlier while battling a mystery illness and wouldn’t wish what happened on his “worst enemy.”
In April 2023, his daughter Corinne announced that her father was suffering from a medical complication.
Last July, Jamie posted a video thanking fans for their support during his recovery.
In a written statement on behalf of his family, he explained: “We wanted to share that my father, Jamie Foxx, experienced a medical complication yesterday.
‘Thankfully, thanks to quick action and great care, he is now on the road to recovery. We know how loved you are and we appreciate your prayers. “The family asks for privacy during this time.”
In May 2023, Jamie took to social media to thank her fans for their support.
The Hollywood star wrote on Instagram: ‘I appreciate all the love!!! Feeling blessed (prayer and heart emojis) (sic).’
