The teenager seemed proud of her father, who suffered a stroke caused by a brain hemorrhage in April 2023. The ordeal caused Foxx to lose his memory for 20 days while he lay in a coma.
Foxx detailed the dramatic health scare, after keeping it private for more than a year, in her Netflix special, Jamie Foxx: What Happened Was…, which premiered in December.
In the one-hour special, Foxx said his daughter Anelise was his ‘spiritual defibrillator’ and credited her with saving his life.
He began: ‘They said at one point, the first 15 days, they thought they were going to lose me because my vitals were out of control.
“There was a period of 13 or 14 days where they said, ‘We have to keep him calm and we have given him all the medications we can.’ It’s not working, we have to keep him calm because his vital signs are so high that we are going to lose him.” .’

He continued: ‘They said when she played, my vitals went down.
‘The nurses at the nursing station were bewildered. Like, ‘Wow, what did they give him?’
‘They ran into the room and she said, ‘Ssh. I have it.’
‘Do you know what I discovered? That God was in that guitar. That’s my spiritual defibrillator.’
During this emotional moment, Anelise came out on stage with her guitar.
“Thank you so much for stepping forward when all was lost,” Jamie said.
“You had to do it because I always dreamed that one day we would perform together on stage,” he responded.
