Jamie Carragher has backed Manchester City to claim a historic treble after their Premier League title triumph, insisting Pep Guardiola is one of the greatest managers of all time.
The prolific side were crowned champions on Saturday night, after Arsenal suffered a bitterly disappointing 1-0 loss to Nottingham Forest – which both ensured their survival in the top tier and ended the title chase.
Guardiola’s side entered the weekend knowing that just one victory from three remaining games – starting with Chelsea on Sunday – would secure them the title. But, in the end, they sealed a third consecutive Premier League triumph without kicking a ball.
Although City started their celebrations straight away, having watched Arsenal’s game together as a team, there is still a lot of work to be done, with Inter Milan and Manchester United respectively coming to the League final. champions and the FA Cup.
City are favorites to win both clashes, and Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports after Arsenal’s loss to Forest, backed the new champions to do so.

‘I think they will [win the Treble].’ Carragher said. “They will be the big favorites going into the game against Inter Milan.
‘The same with the FA Cup final against Manchester United. It remains to be seen if they can do it, but it feels like almost every season they are with a scream that comes in April or May to win a treble.
City have now won the Premier League in five of the last six seasons, with Liveprool adding them to it in the 2019-20 campaign.
Carragher believes even Liverpool’s victory should worry the rest of the league, however, insisting Guardiola – who he believes is one of the best managers in football history – has set an unprecedented standard .
He continued: “The worry for the rest of the league is the only season they haven’t won the Premier League, Liverpool have won it.” Liverpool needed to win 26 and draw the first 27 games.
“The standards are raised so high by Pep Guardiola, I would say. It’s not just Man City. With a different manager, they wouldn’t reach those heights.
“I think we are looking at one of the greatest managers of all time, and for me he makes the biggest difference for Man City.”

Tony Adams, speaking alongside Carragher, also hailed City’s incredible ability to turn his squad around, picking Jack Grealish and John Stones as role models.
“It’s an amazing football club, isn’t it,” he said. ‘The resources they have, what adjectives do you use.
“Jack Grealish since coming back from the World Cup has been amazing. Throughout the round, one player goes out, another comes in.
“Love the rotation they do with John Stones spending a week there. What an amazing football club.
