James Harden has sensationally called 76ers president of basketball operations Daryl Morey a “liar” and has vowed never to work for the same organization as him again as the guard’s bid to leave Philadelphia rumbles.

Harden, a 10-time All-Star, plans to move to the Clippers this offseason after just 18 months with the Sixers.

Last week, however, it emerged that the team had ended trade talks involving Harden after failing to reach a deal with the Clippers.

Instead, they planned to bring him back to training camp before the start of the new season.

On Monday, however, Harden fired back with remarkable comments during a basketball camp.

76ers chief Morey came under fire from guard

“Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be part of any organization he is part of,” he said.

“Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be part of any organization he is part of,” he said.

“Let me say it again: Daryl Morey is a liar and I will never be part of any organization he is part of.”

Harden and Morey have a long working relationship, but that now seems to be fractured beyond repair.

Morey brought him to the Houston Rockets in 2012 before they reunited again in Philadelphia.

Harden was speaking at an event in China and it’s not the first time Morey has been embroiled in a Far East-related scandal.

In 2019, when he was general manager of the Rockets, he tweeted his support for pro-democracy protesters in Hong Kong.

This saga led to claims by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver that Chinese authorities wanted Morey fired, only for a Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson to deny such a request had been made. .

Morey’s tweet was quickly deleted, but it nonetheless did massive damage to the NBA’s long and lucrative business relationship with China.

He now finds himself at the heart of another controversy, this time involving one of the league’s biggest stars.

Harden’s arrival to the 76ers in 2022 coincided with Ben Simmons leaving for Brooklyn, after he became embroiled in his own trade showdown with the Sixers.

In June, Harden landed his $35.6 million contract option for next season with the 76ers..

The 33-year-old could have decided to try free agency, while the Sixers had the right to offer him a four-year, $210 million deal, $8 million more than any other team.

Nick Nurse, hired as Philadelphia coach in May, said in June: “James has a decision to make, and I would be very happy if he came back.”

Harden declined his $47.4 million player option with the 76ers for last season and instead agreed to a two-year deal that will net him $32 million in 2022-23.
