Jake Paul has claimed he will wear “the most expensive suit in boxing history” when he steps into the ring to face Mike Tyson in Texas on Friday night.
The YouTuber-turned-boxer will meet the former world heavyweight boxing champion at AT&T Stadium.
Their matchup has sparked controversy due to the 31-year age difference between the fighters, and several have expressed concern about the health of the 58-year-old Tyson.
Paul will reportedly bank $40m (£31m) in Texas, while Tyson will take at least $20m (£15.7m) – a figure that could almost double depending on how the fight develops.
A chunk of Paul’s winnings appear to have already been spent, after he claimed he will wear a suit costing $1 million (£780,000) during his fight strike.
Paul made the statement about Speak Tuah Podcast with Haliey Welch, where he revealed that his entrance will be inspired in part by Iron Mike’s legendary boxing career.
Jake Paul, right, will take on legendary boxer Mike Tyson in a heavyweight clash in Texas.
Paul surprised Haliey Welch by stating that her starting suit for the fight will be worth $1 million.
“This suit I made for the fight is the most expensive fight suit in boxing history,” Paul said.
‘It’s a million dollars.
‘It has cost a lot of money and it is very brilliant, those are the clues I will give.
‘For the strike I’m going to drive a certain vehicle to the ring, which is going to be great.
“The rest you’ll have to wait and see, the song is related to Mike Tyson’s career and a movie he made.”
Paul’s claim about the cost of his outfit sparked a shocked reaction from Welch, who was catapulted to fame with the viral ‘Hawk Tuah’ video.
Welch’s co-host was also heard saying ‘what the fuck’ in response to Paul’s statement.
His bold claim is likely to draw more attention to his exit from the unlikely fight with Tyson.
Welch was among those attending the fight weigh-in in Texas on Thursday night.
Tyson and Paul step on the scale before their meeting in the ring at AT&T Stadium
Tyson slapped Paul in a frantic finish to their showdown after the weigh-in.
It’s not the only extravagant purchase made by Paul ahead of the fight, as an eye-catching headset attached to Paul’s propeller stood out at the pre-fight press conference.
TMZ Sports reported that the VOBARA cover cost a staggering $100,000 (£78,000). The YouTuber-turned-wrestler wore it on his right ear in a costly reference to Tyson’s infamous bite on Evander Holyfield in their 1997 heavyweight rematch.
Paul and Tyson had clashed at the fight weigh-in, with the latter slapping the YouTuber in response to the 27-year-old stepping on his feet.
Paul appeared relatively unfazed by the blow while Tyson was pinned and made few comments before leaving the stage. That gave Paul a chance at the microphone to deliver his final message.
Speaking to Ariel Helwani on stage, Paul told him: “Mike Tyson, it was a nice slap, but tomorrow you’re going to get knocked out.”
‘I’m fucking it up, I’m fucking it up! Hit like an idiot. It’s personal now, it’s personal now!
At the weigh-in it was seen that Tyson outweighed Paul by just over a pound. Having previously operated as a cruiserweight, Paul bulked up to face Tyson and weighed in at 227.2 pounds.
Tyson, 58, had his last sanctioned professional fight 19 years ago despite competing in an exhibition with Roy Jones Jr. in 2020.
