YouTuber turned boxer Jake Paul has admitted ignoring his coach’s advice to perform his devastating knockout hit on Ben Askren over the weekend.
The 24-year-old, now 3-0 in his professional career in the ring, secured his win over former UFC fighter Askren just one minute and 59 seconds after the first round.
Paul assembled a formidable series of attacks to crash his opponent to the canvas – revealing that he ignored the screams from his corner after noticing Askren’s weakness.

“I definitely put it on,” said Paul at the press conference after the fight. ‘I went to the body throughout the fight. I barely hit him.
‘My check hook had screwed him up. I was putting it on all the time. I was saving the right hand at the time. I knew he wouldn’t see it coming.
My coach in the corner was like, “Don’t load, don’t load!” That’s what he told me the whole camp – don’t load, don’t load!

It was a strong left jab from Paul that visibly shook Askren, before a vicious right-hander sealed his third straight knockout win.
Despite Askren trying to continue, the fight was called off by the referee.
Reflecting on his defeat, the retired UFC man admitted that he had ‘abandoned the world’ for the humiliating manner of his downfall.

Askren was tipped as the favorite to go into the fight – and has since been accused of ‘laughing at the bank’ for his reported payday of $ 500,000 (£ 360,782) despite his defeat.
‘I got knocked out by Jake Paul – it’s f ***** g embarrassing,’ said Askren.
‘I have not disappointed the MMA community, I have disappointed the world. People hate Jake Paul, and they wanted me to make him miserable. ‘

But the typically bullish Paul, who has made a name for himself as a popular online personality, insisted that he always believed his fight against Askren would turn out to be easier than his showdown with former basketball player Nate Robinson.
Paul added: ‘I mean I said it all the time. I said this fight is going to be easier than Nate Robinson. Nobody believed me as usual.
‘At one point I was the underdog as a betting favorite, I won’t let you all forget that. I was the underdog. That sounds crazy, but I was the underdog. ‘
