YouTube sensation Jake Paul is being investigated by officials in Puerto Rico after capturing himself on a golf cart along a protected beach.

The 24-year-old took to Instagram on Friday and shared a short video showing him driving across the sand in the motorized vehicle – which is illegal to protect local wildlife.

TMZ reports that Paul’s famous brother, Logan, may have been driving a second golf cart seen in the clip.

Puerto Rico is currently in the middle of turtle breeding season, and Paul’s video quickly sparked criticism.

He has since removed the footage, but the territory’s Minister of Natural and Environmental Resources has ordered an investigation into the incident.

“I commissioned an investigation to determine the conditions surrounding the use of two motor vehicles on beaches believed to be in Puerto Rico,” Minister Rafael Machargo wrote in a press release on Saturday.

While Paul’s video does not establish where or when this was performed, the Department of Natural and Environmental Resources is reminding citizens that this type of activity is prohibited by law in order to protect the environment and the species that live or nest on the beaches, release continued.

“Those who break the law face fines and other penalties, if applicable.”

Paul has not publicly commented on the investigation.
