Police are searching for the grandson of Hollywood star Paul Hogan after he was allegedly arrested with illegal drugs and equipment used to break into a house.

Jake Paul Hogan, 34, failed to appear at Downing Centre Local Court on Friday facing charges of possession of a prohibited drug and breaking and entering.

Court documents reveal the Crocodile Dundee star’s grandson was allegedly in possession of 1.5 grams of methamphetamine shortly before midnight on July 27 in Glebe, central Sydney.

At the time, he also allegedly had equipment used to break into residences and businesses, including an adjustable wrench.

If convicted of both offenses, he could face up to two years in prison.

Hogan was due back in court on Friday for an arraignment, but after failing to appear despite being summoned several times, police sought a warrant for his arrest.

Approving the application, Magistrate Clare Farnan told the court she had found the alleged offences “proven” and that Hogan was due back in court on August 28.

The court heard that the 34-year-old had also breached two community corrections orders and “a number of intensive corrections orders” by failing to attend court on Friday.

This comes after Mr Hogan was sentenced in March after pleading guilty to burglary, theft, possession of suspected stolen property and theft of household equipment.

The former carpenter by profession previously had a nice house, a car, a stable job and a girlfriend whom he hoped to marry, but his life took a radical turn earlier this year after the relationship ended.

Jake’s father is one of five children born to Paul and his first wife Noelene Hogan.

Jake Hogan’s famous grandfather, who won the Golden Globe for Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy for his breakout role as Mick “Crocodile” Dundee in 1987, lives in Los Angeles.

Paul Hogan also faced adversity with his son Chance, whom he had with his second wife and Crocodile Dundee co-star Linda Koslowski.

Instead of working at his chosen trade, courts have heard how Jake carried burglary tools and lurked outside posh apartment buildings looking for opportunities to steal.

An acquaintance of Jake’s said that he wasn’t a bad person, but that he had completely lost his way.

“He’s actually a good person with a very kind personality and a supportive family,” the person said.

“He was very sad about his mother’s death. He never got over it because he never really came to terms with it.”

Jake’s mother Marie had suffered a “very sad” decline in the weeks before her death from multiple sclerosis when Jake was 17 in 2006.

After her death, Paul Hogan made his own trip from California, where he lived with his second wife, Linda Kozlowski, and their young son, Chance, to attend his daughter-in-law’s funeral.

Todd eventually remarried Jane, a registered nurse, and the couple now live in New Zealand, while Jake remained in Sydney.

When he ended his relationship with his girlfriend, it “destroyed his dreams of having a family and then brought up all kinds of traumas from his past.”

‘He was devastated. He lost all his friends and isolated himself from his family. He stole clothes from shops and bicycles, and wandered around because he had no home.

‘I used to go into the pool rooms and sleep in one of those buildings in Pyrmont.’
