Gyllenhaal plays a former UFC fighter who takes a job as a bouncer in the Florida Keys and “quickly discovers that all is not as it seems in this tropical paradise,” according to the synopsis.

Jake met Hieron in the middle of the stage, where they engaged in inaudible smack talk before Gyllenhaal threw a fake punch.

In an interview with Good morning America last year, Gyllenhaal spoke about the remake and the late Patrick Swayze, who starred in the original hit 1989 film.
“They’re big shoes to fill,” he said, “but Patrick was a friend when he was here. We made a movie together when I was quite young called Donnie Darko.’
Gyllenhaal was 21 years old when he was filming the 2001 sci-fi fantasy movie with Swayze: “He was always so loving and kind to me.
“I take all of that to heart in playing the role and there are some things I take from him, but overall we’ve made a brand new movie and I’m really excited about it.”
