Jacqui Lambie has revealed she is backing Kamala Harris to become the next President of the United States.
Vice President Harris, 59, became the Democrats’ nominee earlier this week after taking over the nomination from President Joe Biden, 81, who lost his party’s support after a series of gaffes.
He will now face former President Donald Trump in the November election.
Senator Lambie was clear about who she would support on Election Day if she could cast her vote.
“I would vote for her (Harris), that’s for sure,” he said on The Project on Friday.
“But I wish her the best of luck, it would be great. I think it’s a great thing for America that not only a woman can rise, but a black woman can rise. I think that’s wonderful.”
“We had Obama there and I think it would be really good for America. Let her go! Give women power there, friend!”
Ms Lambie added that Democrats were right to nominate the vice president to replace Mr Biden as the party’s nominee.

Donald Trump and Vice President Harris will fight for the presidency
“I don’t know what other option you have,” he said. “You have to bring your deputy.”
“She is definitely… how can I put this politely? She is very alert and can say several sentences at once. That must be an advantage.”
Vice President Harris and Trump will face off in a televised debate on September 10.
