An Australian YouTuber’s claim that he received a $1,033 fine for cooking a steak while driving has been exposed as a lie.
Millionaire businessman Jackson O’Doherty has shared an image of a fine he said he received after cooking a steak while driving on the Gold Coast.
“Don’t drive or cook,” he said on his Instagram.
He uploaded a photo, claiming it was taken by a mobile phone camera, and showed him flipping a steak on a gas camping stove on his dashboard.
Mr O’Doherty said he was also deducted four demerit points for the offense of “using a frying pan by the driver” and “leaning on hand or body”.
O’Doherty told Daily Mail Australia that, explaining the stunt, he had seen a “TikTok of a guy claiming to be a carnivore.”
“So now I only eat meat and that day I was late for a meeting, so I decided to cook on the road,” he said.
But Mr O’Doherty is a known serial prankster and the Department of Transport and Main Roads confirmed the stunt was “fake”.
A Youtuber fooled many with this post on Instagram recently
“This infringement notice may be false, but the reality of dangerous driving is not,” the Department of Transport and Main Roads said on its Facebook page.
‘Cooking while driving? That’s a resounding no from us. Not only is it illegal, but it is also very dangerous.
Mr O’Doherty’s 2.2 million Instagram followers found humor in the post with fellow influencer Troy Williams, also known as Troy Candy, commenting on the post: “Just you.”
“I don’t usually spend a thousand dollars on a steak, my friend,” Mr. O’Doherty replied.
Another commenter said it was “steak at its finest.”
One of O’Doherty’s supporters even suggested he should not have been fined or deducted from demerit points.
“I would like to see where in our laws it says this is an offense punishable by a fine,” he said.
One Instagram user responded: ‘bruh, both of his hands are not on the wheel and he’s not looking at the road, clearly very illegal, funny though haha.’

Jackson O’Doherty Claimed He Was Fined For Cooking Steak While Driving, But It Was A Joke
However, some social media followers took notice right away.
‘This is false by the way. “I didn’t understand the ‘body at rest’ thing, it didn’t make sense,” one wrote.
Then I realized that FRYING PAN has a different source. They just took this photo from a balcony or rooftop, edited it to look like a photo from a mobile camera, and classified it as a mobile phone crime.’
O’Doherty’s social media antics have proven lucrative and last year he shocked his mother to tears by paying off her mortgage.
“I wrote it down six or seven years ago, when I was still living at grandma’s house,” he said.
“I said I’m going to pay the mortgages, I’m going to help my family and that’s what I’ve done.”
O’Doherty, who has 11 million Facebook followers, is no stranger to lavish events and rented out Dreamworld in October to host his “one” annual Halloween party with 500 of his friends.
