Jackie ‘O’ Henderson walked out of the KIIS FM studios on Tuesday after learning the station has the largest gender pay disparity among Australian radio networks.
The radio queen, 49, was discussing the gender pay gap with Kyle, 52, who told her that KIIS FM was not performing well compared to its competitors.
‘Southern Cross Austereo has a disgraceful 5.9% pay gap. In Nova and Smooth FM the situation is even worse, at six percent. But unfortunately the number one position is occupied by KIIS FM,’ he began.
“At the top of the tree with a 12 percent pay disparity.”
Henderson was upset after hearing the shocking news and asked some of her male and female colleagues if they were paid the same.
Jackie ‘O’ Henderson (pictured) shocked co-host Kyle Sandilands on Tuesday after revealing her network KIIS FM has the largest gender pay disparity among Australian radio networks.
‘This needs to be addressed seriously, it is an issue where we are at the top of the heap. Do the women here feel like there’s a gap between them and the men on this show? she asked.
Trainee series producer Pete Deppeler told Jackie his salary and a colleague revealed that she was only paid half of what Deppeler earned.
It is not known whether Deppeler and his colleague work in the same position at the same level of seniority, which could affect their pay package.
The radio queen was discussing the gender pay gap with Kyle, who told her that KIIS FM was not performing well compared to its competitors. Jackie then said that the female staff deserved to receive the same pay as her male colleagues and organized a protest leaving the studio.
‘Are you kidding? Why does Peter get so much money? I’m so angry about it, he makes my blood boil,” Jackie fumed.
Jackie then said that the female staff deserved to receive the same pay as their male colleagues and said that the women were organizing a protest, which surprised Kyle as he left the studio.
“We’re all gone,” Jackie said as she left the studio.
While Jackie O may have been upset by the apparent pay disparity at her workplace, she herself earns the same amount as her co-star Kyle: a whopping $10 million a year.
Kyle, surprised, said: ‘We’re just here with the boys. I don’t know if I’m enjoying this, bring the girls back!’

In November, the Sydney-based radio duo signed a record-breaking $200 million, 10-year live-on-air deal, keeping them on the airwaves until 2034.
As part of their deal, they will be expanding their show to Melbourne later this year.
