Jack Grealish was furious after Moisés Caicedo avoided a red card for following through with a nasty challenge.
The Manchester City winger had to be replaced by Jeremy Doku in the 66th minute of the FA Cup semi-final against Chelsea.
Grealish was furious with the referees and ranted as he took his place on the bench, and his withdrawal raised fresh concerns after an injury-plagued season.
He has already missed parts of the season with injury problems but has returned refreshed since the international break and will want to avoid another spell on the sidelines.
Caicedo was already on a yellow card and was lucky to avoid sending off, and Grealish made his opinion clear to the fourth official, Darren England.
