BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors was seen eating her lunch during a shopping trip in Calabasas last week.

She is known as the controversial figure who resigned from the Black Lives Matter organization under a cloud of scandal.

But last week, BLM co-founder Patrisse Cullors went largely unnoticed when she was seen patiently waiting at the deli counter for her sandwich at upscale Gelson’s supermarket in Calabasas.

As these exclusive and candid photos from DailyMail.com show, the activist, 40, now lives a comfortable and low-key life in Los Angeles, despite previously claiming she was forced to hire security and drivers for her own safety.

Cullors, who was accompanied by her young son, was makeup-free and wore a flowy pink poncho from Adidas and Crocs to go shopping.

He seemed to know the store well, navigating his shopping cart through the aisles while the boy clung to him with one hand.

After shopping, the mother-and-son duo grabbed a table outside the market for a late lunch, with Cullors opting for a sandwich.

The two later packed up and headed to their car with their shopping bags, but were briefly detained after the boy left his iPhone on the table and had to go get it.

The protective mother could be seen standing in the middle of the parking lot and heard telling her son to be careful and “look both ways” as she walked back to the car.

Cullor’s distinctive mole on his forehead, as well as his various tattoos, including the “line” tattoo that runs from his chin to his chest and ends with the numbers “818,” were visible during the outing.

She also wore the same nose ring that she has been seen sporting in recent Instagram posts.

But during Wednesday’s outing, Cullors was just another shopper, not the self-proclaimed police officer and prison abolitionist who fueled the BLM movement around the world at its peak in 2020.

Ironically, that same year, Gelson’s supermarket in Calabasas was one of several local businesses that were forced to board up their windows during the “mostly peaceful” protests and riots of the last presidential election.

It is located in an affluent community where whites make up about 74 percent of the population.

Cullors, his son and his wife, fellow social activist Janaya Khan, live in a $1.4 million home in nearby Topanga Canyon, an area known as the “hippie enclave” of Los Angeles.

The barn-style home has undergone multiple renovations since purchasing the property for cash in March 2021.

Months later, DailyMail.com revealed that the couple had installed a $35,000 wooden fence and an electric gate around the complex for security reasons.

The BLM organization became one of the largest and most influential social and political justice groups in the country – and the world – after gaining widespread attention and support in 2020 following the murder of George Floyd in Minneapolis.

Barely a year after Floyd’s death, Cullors resigned as chief executive, weeks after it was revealed that she had amassed an impressive array of property investments, despite describing herself as a Marxist.

At the time, reports revealed that Cullors owned four residential properties in exclusive (and predominantly white) neighborhoods in California and Georgia with a total value of more than $3 million.

Cullors defended the property portfolio and called any attack on it “right-wing bullying”.

She has said that her various homes were purchased thanks to financial windfalls from her speaking and book deals and not from the $90 million in donations raised by BLM in 2020.

Cullors founded Black Lives Matter with co-founders Alicia Garza and Opal Tometi in 2013.

In May 2022, a pregnant Candace Owens showed up at Cullors’ doorstep with a camera crew for a comment about her real estate portfolio that was in the news.

Owens was only able to speak to one staff member at the door. Cullors claimed that Owens was bullying and harassing her and that she was living in fear.

Two years later, she seems to have overcome her fears and goes out to do normal mommy things, like shopping.
