One of the first stops on The Super Mario Bros. press tour (without Anya Taylor-Joy, sadly) was none other than The Kelly Clarkson Show, where things didn’t go so well for Bowse – er, Jack Black. As Keegan-Michael Key, Charlie Day, and “Mario” themselves walked onto the set, Kelly asks, “Where’s Jack?” As you’ll find out in the clip above, Kelly apparently Loves Bowser (the character voiced by Black), but he doesn’t come out because he’s the only one donning his character’s costume.
Are So a little, of course, but still black sells betrayal so well. Then when you see him giddily hopping around in a form-fitting Bowser costume with his goop area faded (this is for a Nintendo movie, after all), the look becomes much more fun to watch than your average movie promotion look.
The Super Mario Bros. movie releases in theaters on Wednesday, April 5. That release date is new two days ago, following a recent change from its originally scheduled launch on April 7. Personally, I expect Jack Black to steal the show, but I didn’t expect him to steal the talk show as well.
