Ivan Toney has revealed his concern over Thomas Frank’s comments about his future at Brentford, with the striker also stating: “I can’t get clubs to come and get me.”

The Brentford boss recently said he was wrongly quoted in a magazine from his native Denmark as allegedly claiming the 27-year-old was likely to be sold in the summer.

Frank has since clarified that the striker could stay beyond the end of the season but that his long-term future is away from the Gtech Community Stadium through “a couple of scenarios”.

Toney only returned from an eight-month suspension for breaching FA playing rules in January, but is already linked with Arsenal and Chelsea.

His contract expires at the end of next season and he has expressed his desire to play for a higher level club in the Premier League.

Ivan Toney scored Brentford’s second goal in a convincing 2-0 victory over Wolves at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The English striker will be essential for Brentford during a difficult stretch until the end of the season.

Brentford boss Thomas Frank shares a celebration with Toney after the game against Wolves.

Speaking after an excellent 2-0 win over Wolves, in which Toney scored, the England international was coy about his future.

Toney said: “I’m a Brentford player at the moment, no one can predict the future.”

“Whatever happens, happens, but the main objective is to do well for Brentford, keep them in the league and keep getting goals and three points.”

‘I see it because he doesn’t love me. The coach has said what he has said, but I can’t get the clubs to come and get me.

‘I just have to keep doing what I do and that is scoring goals. What will be will be.’

Speaking about the poor translation of his comments, Frank said: “You always have to pay attention to the translation.”

‘Google Translate is not always the best. It’s the same message all the time, I would love for it to stay forever.

Wolves’ Mario Lemina and Callum Doyle cut frustrated figures after the game

“The reality is that he has one more year left on his contract in the summer. I think he has been quite open about playing for an important club in the future.”

‘There are a couple of scenarios; He leaves in the summer, he leaves in the winter or he stays until the end.

“If he leaves, whether it’s summer, winter or next summer, I think it will be fantastic to see him play for a top club.”

Toney’s future remains uncertain, but the only thing Brentford fans will know for sure is that he will play a major role in the remainder of the Premier League season.
