ITV is reportedly looking for older people to star in a new show.
Date My Nan (working title) is thought to follow the journey of single retirees on their search for love, with the help of a grandchild, friend or neighbour.
Bosses are said to have been inspired by the success of last year’s middle-aged love-hunt, My Mum Your Dad.
The dating show, hosted by Davina McCall, was a huge hit when it hit screens in September last year as a group of mature single parents sought to find love with the help of their children.
A source said SunProducers know that tender and emotional scenes of adults getting ready with their loved one will make for truly charming and heartwarming content.
ITV is reportedly looking for older people to star in a new show, which would follow the journey of single retirees in their search for love.
Bosses are said to have been inspired by last year’s middle-aged love-hunting hit My Mum Your Dad (pictured: Roger and Janey, who met in the first series and are still together)
‘In My Mum, Your Dad, viewers really appreciated the honest moments when the men opened up to each other or when widower Roger burst into tears over his late wife’s cancer.
‘Viewers no longer want to just see pretty people chasing their lust, and Date My Nan will have that depth.’
ITV is believed to be looking at the format for its Fresh Cuts arm, which aims to promote thought-provoking content across all its platforms.
This could also mean that Date My Nan could potentially be broadcast online as well as on terrestrial channels.
MailOnline has contacted ITV for comment.
The second season of My Mum, Your Dad, which was nominated for a BAFTA after its first broadcast, is expected to premiere in the autumn.
Meanwhile Roger and Janey The pair, who met in season one, looked more in love than ever as they posed for loved-up snaps for a few days apart.
The couple won fans after meeting on the first series of ITV’s middle-aged dating show, and are still together almost a year later.
Earlier this year, the couple teamed up with fashion brand JD Williams to curate their go-to outfit for a romantic date night at home.
Much like Your Mum My Dad, Date My Nan (a working title) is thought to enlist the help of a grandchild, friend or neighbour in finding love.
A source revealed that bosses know that people want to see soft and emotional scenes that make for more touching content.
The show worked for Roger and Janey, who looked more in love than ever as they posed for loved-up photos during a recent getaway.
The postman explained: ‘For Valentine’s Day, I’m cooking a meal for Janey and the plan is to have a nice, quiet meal for two with a bottle of red wine.
‘Whether we’re lounging indoors or at a fancy restaurant, I love spending time with Janey, and she looks great in anything she wears!’
When asked about finding love again later in life, Roger said: ‘Dating in midlife can be tough, trying to juggle spending time with our kids and having some alone time, but it really is important to have some alone time together and reconnect.’
Janey added: “I’m really looking forward to spending a relaxing evening with Roger. We’re very close these days and love spending time together, so we’ll make sure to make this night even more special.”
