Republicans are sounding the alarm about how “easy” President Joe Biden’s policies have made it for terrorists to enter the United States and potentially plan devastating attacks.
Eight citizens of Tajikistan with possible ties to ISIS were arrested in New York, Philadelphia and Los Angeles last week in a coordinated operation by law enforcement, according to Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) officials.
All of these terrorist-affiliated individuals entered the country through the US-Mexico border, and ICE officials told the New York Post that a wiretap revealed that one of the suspects had been talking about bombs, raising concerns that a horrific attack like 9/11 or the Boston Marathon bombing could happen again.
This raised alarm bells on Capitol Hill among members of the Republican Party who for years have been calling for border security reforms to keep out terrorists and their friends.
Six Russian citizens with possible links to ISIS have been arrested in New York, Philadelphia and Los Angeles in a coordinated operation by law enforcement; one source feared they were planning a Boston Marathon-style bomb attack (pictured).
“Think about how easy it is to invade when up to 15 million people come over the course of four years,” Rep. Rich McCormick, a military veteran, told DailyMail.com, adding: “It only takes 11 people.” in reference to those who carried out the September 11 attacks.
“We’ve seen that before,” he continued, calling the current border policy “pure stupidity.”
Rep. Kat Cammack, R-Fla., told DailyMail.com: “I know there are cells set up here in the United States as a result of the open border crisis.”
“And then it’s not a question of if, but when the next terrorist attack will occur.”
“We have a border that is too porous for there not to be a situation that results in loss of life, and it is tragic that the Biden administration has played politics with people’s lives.”
Cammack also criticized the White House for “abusing the asylum process to bring people here when they have no legitimate claims.”
Eight immigrants from Tajikistan crossed into the United States across the southern border before they were discovered to have ties to ISIS.
An ISIS terrorist cell used human trafficking operations to infiltrate the US, according to the FBI
Two ICE officials said they arrested the suspected terrorist affiliates last week only after the FBI raised the alarm about their ties to ISIS.
The suspects are originally from Tajikistan and also have Russian citizenship, according to the Post.
Rep. Greg Steube, R-Fla., made no bones about blaming Biden.
‘We have had over 300 known terrorists cross the southern border, all under the supervision of Joe Biden. He doesn’t care about the safety of the American people. “He cares about letting in as many illegals as possible, regardless of the outcome for the safety of Americans.”
And Tennessee Republican Rep. Chuck Fleischmann told DailyMail.com that he is “scared” of what could happen to American citizens during a possible terrorist attack on American soil.
‘For four years we have had a porous border under President Biden, who encouraged illegal immigration. People have crossed the border. The reality is that we don’t know who is here. That scares me.’
After the eight arrested entered the United States across the southern border last spring and went through the government’s vetting process, preliminary searches turned up no information that would have identified them as potential terrorism-related concerns.
They are being held for immigration violations and are in the custody of ICE, which made the arrests while working with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force (JTTF).
Terrorist affiliates are currently facing procedures to expel them from the country.
An ICE official familiar with the operation told The Post that one of the suspects had been talking about bombs, adding: ‘Remember the Boston Marathon (bombing)? I’m afraid something like this could happen again or worse.’
The suspect in question has been involved with authorities before and will have a court date next year, according to the source.
“We know that there are people, bad guys from about 60 different countries around the world, all of whom hate America, who are infiltrating our southern border and, in some cases, our northern border,” said Rep. Jack Bergman . Republican from Michigan, a retired three-star general.
Rep. Roger Williams, R-Texas, told DailyMail.com that “Biden has opened (the United States) to terrorists.”
Rep. Rich McCormick said it would be “easy” for terrorists to invade the US, adding that it only took 11 people to carry out the 9/11 attacks, as shown above.
Despite the best efforts of Border Patrol and ICE, agents there report how the Biden administration is crippling their efforts to prevent terrorists from entering the US.
The latest infiltration of ISIS-connected immigrants comes as top law enforcement officials warned that the threat of a terrorist attack in the United States has increased “enormously” in recent months.
Attorney General Merrick Garland made this surprising admission while testifying before the House Judiciary Committee on Tuesday during a hearing dedicated to investigating the politicization of the department.
“I am concerned about the possibility of a terrorist attack in the country after October 7,” said Attorney General Garland. “The threat level for us has increased enormously.”
‘Every morning we worry about this issue. “We try to track down anyone who may be trying to harm the country,” he continued. “Of course, this is a big priority for the Department of Justice.”
FBI Director Christopher Wray, speaking before a different committee across the Capitol in the Senate, agreed, saying that “we’ve seen the threat from foreign terrorists rise to a whole different level” after the terrorist attack in Hamas of October 7.
“We have seen a gallery of foreign terrorist organizations calling for attacks against Americans and our allies,” Wray said.
“Just during the time I have been director of the FBI, we have disrupted multiple terrorist attacks in cities across the United States.”
“I would be hard-pressed to think of a time when so many different threats to our public and national security were so elevated at the same time.”
Rescuers work to extinguish the fire at the burning Crocus City Hall concert venue following a shooting, outside Moscow, Russia, on March 22, 2024.
Wray said threats against American Jews have been particularly serious.
“We have seen an elevated threat to the Jewish community in the United States.”
Although he said Jewish communities were targeted before the Oct. 7 attack, threats have since “increased dramatically.”
“Religiously motivated hate crimes, about 60 percent of them, are directed at the Jewish community,” Wray testified, noting that the community only represents two percent of the American population.
“There is growing concern about the possibility of a coordinated attack here in our country, not unlike an attack we saw in the Russia theater,” he added, referring to the shooting at the Crocus City Hall concert in March.
One threat vector to enter the country is through the border between the United States and Mexico, according to the head of the FBI.
