Lords of the Fallen will be released on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC on October 13, 2023.
The news was revealed in a reveal trailer (which we offer an exclusive extended version of below), where developer Hexworks gave fans the first in-depth look at the Dark Souls and Elden Ring-like game running on Unreal Engine 5.
IGN’s exclusive extended gameplay trailer spans four minutes and shares some of the story details as well. The opening screen reads: “Mournstead has fallen, its mighty army decimated by the hordes of Adyr, the Demon God. But one light still flashes in the ever-growing gloom, the light of the Dark Crusader.”
The demo is then divided into gameplay, and showcases the set of environments and enemies found in the spiritual successor to Lords of the Fallen from 2014.
It is reported that the game was re-revealed at Gamescom 2022 after years of turbulent development spanning across several different studios. Originally introduced as a direct sequel called The Lords of the Fallen, the game has gone through a rebranding, and is now being billed as a spiritual successor to the original game of the same name.
