Coronation Street stars and couple, Sally Carman and Joe Duttine, have been forced to postpone their marriage due to the pandemic.

The former shameless actress, 40, and her soap star fiancé, 50, announced their engagement last year, but together have decided to postpone their marriage for a year.

Speaking about Loose Women on Friday, she confirmed that coronavirus restrictions – preventing mass gatherings at weddings – have influenced their decision to postpone the big day.

Sally said, “I’m not sure where we’ll be in December, the way things were handled, so I didn’t want to risk arranging a wedding.

‘We want to throw a party – so if 15 people are allowed to come, that’s not really great.

“So we thought it would be best if we put it off for a year and hopefully get the wedding we want.”

Current rules allow up to 30 people, including children, to attend a wedding ceremony or reception.

In places or places of worship it is allowed to provide food and drink, but it must be consumed by guests when they are seated. All wedding personnel are required to wear face masks.

The Coronation Street stars revealed they were engaged during the COVID-19 lockdown on social media last March.

The soap couple announced the exciting news on Twitter, with Joe joking that the coronavirus could be ‘f ** k off’.

Tweeting a photo of Sally’s sparkling new engagement ring, Joe captioned the post: ‘She said yes everyone, convinced 19 can f ** k off …’

Sally later tweeted the message again with the simple caption, ‘I did it’ along with a love heart emoji. ‘

She also confirmed the exciting news on Instagram, sharing a photo with the caption, ‘So this happened … # yes.’

In another snap, Sally and Joe are toasting champagne, captioning the post, “We’ve got each other.”

The duo were first photographed together in August 2018 and moved in together in November 2019.

Joe first joined Corrie in 2013 as Tim, Faye Windass’s biological father, with his previous storylines often focusing on his relationship with her adoptive family.

Sally, who is also known as Kelly Maguire in Shameless, first appeared on the soap in 2017 when she was introduced as Seb Franklin’s mother.
