‘It is kind of nuts’: singer Rick Astley’s iconic song Never Gonna Give You Up becomes a huge hit on TikTok

He left the music industry at the height of his stardom after being burned out trying to cast his pop character off his neighbor boy.

But nearly 20 years later, Rick Astley has made a comeback on TikTok – and is already seeing success with the younger generation.

Speak on Channel Nine’s Today On Friday, the 55-year-old said it was ‘a bit crazy’ to think his iconic song, Never Gonna Give You Up, was still a big hit.

‘That’s a bit weird. One of the things I love about TikTok is that millions of people sing songs that were made 25 years before they were born and I love that, ‘he said.

‘It’s a bit crazy, actually. I think that song clearly has its own world on the internet.

‘I’m grateful for that because it introduced me a little bit [a younger] audience.

“When I do gigs, it’s people of an age who come to me, of course they are, but every now and then I look at the audience and see a few people and I think,” That’s interesting. ” Because they are clearly a bit younger. ‘
