Swimmer Madi Wilson and cricketer Matt Short have delighted fans with news of the safe arrival of their first child, a baby boy named Austin.
Wilson gave birth on Monday; Austin Wilson Short weighed 3.46 kg.
The international sports stars took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the happy news along with a series of sweet photos of their newborn.
“Our little Aussie is here and we couldn’t be happier,” the couple posted.
Athletes rushed to the comments section to send their best wishes.
“I’m very proud of you, it’s beautiful,” Ariarne Titmus replied.
“It’s beautiful! Congratulations to you both,” wrote Mollie O’Callaghan.
“Congratulations, boys,” Glenn Maxwell posted.

Swimming champion Wilson gave birth on Monday, with Austin Wilson Short weighing 3.46kg.
The Australian stars got engaged in October last year and first shared the happy news that they were expecting a baby in January.
“2 becomes 3. We’ve come a long way and are thrilled to announce we are expecting our rainbow baby in 2024,” they said in a joint post.
“It has been a whirlwind 12 months and we are very excited about what the future holds.”
Olympic champion Wilson had a serious health scare in 2023 when she was found to have several tumors in her breast.
“I get a lot of messages asking why I’m not currently in camp with my Dolphins,” he wrote at the time.
The post on social media sparked a wave of congratulatory messages from the world of sport.

“We found four tumors in my breast and we had to do biopsies of them.”
Tests revealed the tumours were benign, but the champion swimmer said the experience was still “one of the scariest things I’ve ever experienced in my life”.

Wilson also made headlines in 2021 when she was hospitalized with Covid-19 while traveling to Italy for the International Swimming League.
