The Friends reunion is a go, it was shared on Friday afternoon.
The cast members – Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer and Matt LeBlanc – all went to Instagram at the same time to share the good news with their fans.
The image was of the cast of an old photo shoot that ran in Rolling Stone in the nineties. The caption was short and concise: “It happens.” They also tagged HBO Max to make it clear where the special would be broadcast.
Happy news! The Friends reunion is a go, it was shared on Friday afternoon. The cast members – Jennifer Aniston, Courteney Cox, Lisa Kudrow, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, Matt LeBlanc – went to Instagram to share the good news with their fans
The series was broadcast from 1994 to 2004 and won younger fans thanks to Netflix. Now the re-runs are available on HBO Max after the streaming service had secured the rights.
HBO Max also confirmed the news on social media. “The one where they met again,” it said on the note, “The Friends cast set to be reunited for exclusive HBO Max special.”
“I think you can call this the one where they all come together again – we reunite with David, Jennifer, Courteney, Matt, Lisa and Matthew for an HBO Max special that is programmed alongside the entire Friends library,” said Kevin Reilly, chief content officer at HBO Max and president of TBS, TNT and truTV, in a statement that was shared on Friday.
“I became aware of Friends when it was at a very early stage of development and then had the opportunity to work on the series many years later and I enjoyed speaking to them generation after generation.
“It’s meeting an era in which friends – and audiences – came together in real time and we think this reunion special will capture that spirit and unite original and new fans.”

Back for more: The series was broadcast from 1994 to 2004 and won younger fans thanks to Netflix. For months it has been speculated that the cast would work with HBO Max on a reunion special
Aniston, Cox, Kudrow, LeBlanc, Perry and Schwimmer are also executive producers of the special. Emma Conway and James Longman are on board as co-executive producers.
For months it has been speculated that the cast would work with HBO Max, which starts in May, on a reunion special.
And last week Perry confirmed everything but the rumors when he tweeted: “Big news is coming …”
Then Schwimmer was brought to the scene about whether the famous characters – Monica, Phoebe, Rachel, Ross, Joey and Chandler – appear on the screen together in one form or another.
“First of all, I am so happy that I can finally answer this question,” Schwimmer joked, 53, when asked during an interview with Matt Baker and Alex Jones on BBC’s The One Show.
Comical relief: last week Schwimmer avoided the question of whether there will be a kind of reunion
“I really wish I could confirm or deny, there’s nothing to officially report,” Schwimmer, 53, added.
Jones insisted even further on the potential of a reunion show by asking, “But maybe?”
In keeping with his and his Friends character Ross’s preference for a good one-liner, the actor shot back: “Maybe Matthew Perry is pregnant,” referring to the tweet about “big news coming.”

The special is said to contain insightful interviews with the cast, rather than a scripted episode.
It was also said that each of them could earn between $ 2.25 million and $ 2.5 million for the show, something that Variety also claimed on Friday after the deal was confirmed.
Friends for life: Aniston marked the occasion when all six Friends cast members officially became Instagram friends in October 2019 with this photo
The special marks the first time the cast appears on the screen together in about 16 years, although the group has been in regular contact in their personal lives.
Friends debuted for the first time at NBC in September 1994 and then reached the peak of success during the 10-season run that ended in May 2004.
During his career, he was in the top ten of the TV rating race in all 10 seasons and eventually reached number one in his eighth season.
The series final was viewed by 52.5 million viewers in the US, making it the fifth-most watched series final in television history and the most-watched television episode of the 2000 decade.
A lot of money: there is a word that any of the six original cast members of Friends could earn between $ 2.25 million and $ 2.5 million for a reunion show
