Istanbul will reportedly host the Champions League final in 2023 after this season’s showpiece was moved from Turkey to Portugal due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Manchester City and Chelsea were set to meet at the Ataturk Olympic Stadium in Istanbul on May 29.
However, UEFA had to find an alternative venue after the British government redistributed Turkey to Covid-19 travel destinations, which meant that supporters would not be able to attend the match.
According to reports in Turkey, the 2023 Champions League final will be held in Istanbul

Wembley Stadium in London, England has been suggested as a possible alternative, but the UK government’s reluctance to allow 2,000 VIPs and personnel into the country without quarantine forced UEFA to look elsewhere.
The match will instead be played at the Estadio do Dragao in Porto, Portugal, with 6,000 tickets for each club.
And according to the Anadolu Agency, the Champions League final will return to Istanbul in 2023, after it was originally scheduled to take place at the Allianz Arena in Munich, the home of Bayern Munich.
The Turkish Football Association has reportedly held talks with UEFA and reached an agreement on the reenactment of the final.
However, due to UK travel restrictions amid a spate of Covid cases, the final has moved to Porto

The two sides are also said to have reached an agreement that the 2021 UEFA Super Cup – contested between the Champions League and Europa League winners – will also take place in Istanbul.
Belfast, in Northern Ireland, was selected as the host city for the Super Cup final, but those plans have now reportedly changed.
Home of Turkish giants Besiktas, Istanbul’s Vodafone Park Stadium hosted the 2019 Super Cup final, with Liverpool beating Chelsea on penalties.
Turkey experienced an outbreak of Covid cases last month and is currently registering an average of 15,000 cases per day.
