Isla Fisher has reportedly landed a major role in Bridget Jones 4, following her split from husband Sacha Baron Cohen after 14 years of marriage.
The Wedding Crashers star, 48, will “star in filming this week” and will play a friend of Bridget, played by Renee Zellweger.
A source said Sun: ‘Isla’s real life is inspiring her new role in the Bridget Jones movie.
‘She plays a single mother who befriends Bridget at the school gates. Isla loves Bridget Jones and is delighted to have landed the role of her.

Isla is expected to begin filming this week with Renee and other cast members.

The filming of Bridgeton Jones comes on the heels of fans’ sheer delight following the announcement of the beloved character’s return to the big screen.
Renee first appeared as Bridget in 2001’s Bridget Jones’ Diary and returned in 2004’s Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason and 2016’s Bridget Jones’ Baby.
The film was officially confirmed last month, with the returns of Renée and Hugh Grant made official, after the death of their love rat character, Daniel Cleaver, was faked in the 2016 third installment.
The fourth film in the franchise, based on the books by Helen Fielding, will be released by Universal Film on the American platform Peacock on Valentine’s Day 2025, while internationally the film will be released in theaters.
Emma Thompson, who played Doctor Rawlings in the last film, is also back, with Chiwetel Ejiofor and White Lotus star Leo Woodall also starring.

It comes after Isla recently broke her silence following her split from Baron Cohen.
The Australian actress shared a sweet message on Instagram last week, along with a picture of herself looking calm in a picturesque garden.
“Thank you for all the kindness and support,” he wrote.
Isla and British actor Sacha, 52, announced in April that they had quietly split last year.
The couple announced the news by sharing a photo of them together wearing tennis gear.
Their statement read: “After a long game of tennis that lasted more than 20 years, we finally put down our rackets.”

The couple met in 2001 and married in 2010.

Isla and British actor Sacha, 52, announced in April that they had quietly split last year.
Insiders have claimed their marriage had been “rocky” for years and Sacha reportedly struggled after making the “sacrifice” of moving his family to Australia in 2020.
They moved from Los Angeles to Sydney in 2020, then to Perth, where Isla’s family lives, in September 2021, to escape Sydney’s strict Covid lockdown rules.
At the time, they said the move to Western Australia would be permanent.
However, his move from the United States to Australia was said to be “difficult” for Baron Cohen because he was based in Hollywood and from there there was also a shorter flight to London.
