Experts have finally revealed the answer to the age-old question: what does a cheater look like?
Hundreds of relationship therapists have researched why people cheat in the past, but few have considered what a typical cheater does for a living.
Professionals at Ashley Madison, a dating website for married people, say that CHeating technicians typically have average jobs earning less than $75,000 a year.
A survey of more than 2,600 members of a dating website found that men most likely to cheat on their partners are manual workers, technicians, engineers, sales managers and construction workers.
On the other hand, women who cheat often work in caregiving roles, such as nurses, teachers, marketing executives, stay-at-home mothers and hospitality workers.
A person’s birth order, zodiac sign, job and number of children all influence whether or not they are susceptible to infidelity, according to the analysis.
The average Ashley Madison member has 1-2 kids, is the oldest of their siblings, and has a mediocre (but not particularly dramatic) relationship with their primary partner.
Most men and women who cheat are married with children, and more than a third of Ashley Madison members are parents of children between the ages of 18 and 25.
Professionals at Ashley Madison, a dating website for married people, shared that there is not much difference between the average citizen and a cheater.
Experts say these people are “people whose children no longer live at home and who are looking to fill their lives elsewhere” after their children leave home.
A relationship therapist has also revealed what cheaters are looking for outside of their relationships – and it’s not just sex.
Experts found that people who use Ashley Madison are looking for more than just a hookup – they prefer something long-term as a result of using the dating website.
“When people are looking to cheat on their partner, they choose one of two types of partners: someone who is exactly like them or someone whose personality seems completely opposite to their own,” Dr. Tammy Nelson, a sex and relationship therapist, told FEMAIL.
‘Finding someone with a different temperament and background can be fascinating and exciting. On the other hand, someone with similar traits can feel familiar, which can be more comforting if someone is nervous or unsure about starting an adventure.’
