The Melbourne Cup Carnival has once again seen Australia’s biggest stars strut their stuff in a variety of eye-catching outfits on race day.
Celebrity attendees have gone all out this year with their spectacular outfits at The Birdcage at Flemington Racecourse.
But not every look has been a resounding success, and many of the extravagant and extravagant outfits seen at the races over the years have resurfaced as Oaks Day begins on Thursday.
One in particular that has been in the spotlight is Bec Hewitt’s 2017 Kennedy Oaks Day outfit, which was brutally called one of her “worst” at the time.

Bec, 41, carried her essentials in a blush clutch and arranged a large red floral headpiece in her golden locks to complete her look.
However, critics were not convinced by the unusual pleated dress, calling it a fashion faux pas on the part of the very stylish WAG.

Not only did the Home and Away star appear to misunderstand the event’s theme by dressing in black and white (colors traditionally reserved for Derby Day), but she also violated the Victorian Racing Club’s strict dress code.
According to the VRC website, clothing such as playsuits, midriff-baring clothing and shorts are not permitted.
Bec has not attended the 2024 Melbourne Cup Carnival, despite being a regular at the prestigious horse racing event over the years.
Big names including Nadia Bartel, Rebecca Judd, Samantha Armytage and Sylvia Jeffreys have been seen mixing it up at The Birdcage during the spectacular week-long run.
International names such as Elizabeth Hurley and Nicky Hilton also traveled to Australia to attend the world famous event.

Elizabeth attended the races alongside her son Damian and admitted her return to Australia was “bittersweet” after the death of her ex-fiancé Shane Warne.
She began dating the Australian cricketer, who was born and raised in Melbourne, in 2010, before getting engaged the following year, but they eventually split in 2013.
Shane tragically died of a heart attack at the age of 52 on March 4, 2022, while staying in a luxury villa on the Thai resort island of Koh Samui.
He and Elizabeth remained good friends despite their separation, and he called their relationship “the happiest time of his life”, confessing that he was upset that things between them did not work out.
