The debate over whether to peel oranges and other fruits on a plane began after a Reddit user created a publication yesterday I asked about the move.

A dietitian and frequent flyer revealed in Vane Airport Mag that a big “don’t” when entering a plane brings “messy fruit”.
“Oranges on planes are a disaster, unless they are small clementines,” the flyer writes.
“Juice from cut fruits like pineapple can leak all over your carry-on luggage and stick to everything in sight. All you need to use a towel to tame is not your friend in theft.

The TikToker isn’t the only one willing to peel an orange on a plane.
Reddit users who commented on the original poster’s posts explained why they thought the orange peeling habit was acceptable on a plane.

A Reddit user who doesn’t mind someone peeling an orange during their flight noted in their comment that airlines are concerned about the health risks oranges can pose on a plane.

This rule might not apply to Europe, based on what a flight attendant and TikToker did in a video she posted last year about pomegranates. Ericka Renee was obsessed with the fruit when she recorded the video on the plane.
Renee claimed there was no one on the plane except the crew.
The flight attendant then showed users how she eats the fruit and that she uses a butter knife to do so.
However, she proved in the video that grenades are harder to eat on a plane and can cause damage. The seeds came out of the pomegranate after Renee cut the fruit with the butter knife and then “popped out” the rest that was stuck.
Thanks to the container Renee used, her grenade seemed to work as an airplane snack without doing any damage.
Social media users haven’t commented on their opinions on pomegranates on planes, but one TikTok user revealed in the comments sections that she wanted to try the fruit.
