The singer released her long-awaited seventh album on Friday, and fans were quick to note that cryptic lyrics in the title track could have accused her spouse of being unfaithful.

On X, formerly known as Twitter, fans claimed that if Dalton was unfaithful, Ariana ‘deserves an apology’ after facing months of accusations of being a homewrecker over her romance with Ethan Slater.

The lyrics in question were: “So now we play our separate scenes // Now, now she’s in my bed, laying on your chest // Now I’m in my head, wondering how it ends.”

Fans were quick to read between the lines and rushed to social media to claim that it could mean Dalton cheated on Ariana during their marriage.

One posted: ‘ARIANA, DO I APOLOGIZE FOR CALLING THE UA CHEATING? I WAS NOT VERY FAMILIAR WITH YOUR LORE?’

Ariana and Dalton filed for divorce on September 18, with documents obtained by TMZ showing that Ariana’s attorney, Laura Wasser, had cited the reason as “irreconcilable differences” with the separation date listed as February 20, 2023.

Sources informed the outlet that everything was “resolved” between the former couple “before going to court” and added that the actress planned to “write Dalton a check” to officially dissolve the marriage.

Notably, the couple filed for divorce months after their stated separation date, with a source explaining to TMZ that the reasoning was so they could “clarify the details and reach an agreement.”

According to the source, Ariana and Dalton “have no hard feelings” and added “they have been very loving and respectful of each other every step of this process.”

The Grammy winner and the real estate agent began dating in January 2020 and the couple got engaged in December of the same year.

In May 2021, the two tied the knot during an intimate yet romantic wedding ceremony at their Montecito home, before news of their separation emerged in July 2023.

Ariana has been under public scrutiny since July 2023, when rumors circulated about her relationship with Ethan, just days after news of her breakup with Dalton emerged.

To add to the scandal, Ethan had just ended his marriage to Lilly Jay, his high school sweetheart.

They welcomed their first baby together in August 2022 and he filed for divorce from her in July 2023.

In the ’80s-inspired song Yes, And?, Ariana appears to respond to criticism, repeatedly asking, ‘Yes, and?’ She urges listeners to reflect on why they feel compelled to comment on her life.

‘Your business is yours and mine is mine,’ the pop princess also sings, before adding: ‘Why do you care so much about who I am?’

In another line he sings: “Now I don’t care what you think, no, I won’t hide beneath your own projections or change my truest life.”
