Rita Ora has backed her husband Taika Waititi’s call for a blockbuster about Rachael “Raygun” Gunn’s 2024 Paris Olympics disaster.
The British singer, 33, took to her Instagram Stories on Wednesday to hint that she would be interested in producing a film about the now-viral moment.
British actress Jodie Turner-Smith was the first to share an article about Raygun, who was named the world’s number one breakdancer despite her disastrous routine at the Olympics.
The Queen and Slim star, 38, asked New Zealand filmmaker Taika, 49, who is married to Rita, to create a film about the breakdancer’s sudden rise to global notoriety.
She shared her interest in executive producing the film and asked Rita to get involved and the singer re-shared the post.
Jodie had written: “Can’t wait to see Taika Waititi’s film about this. Who’s playing Raygun? Rita Ora, what do you think about working as an executive producer with me?”
Raygun, 36, became an overnight sensation for his comedy routine at the Paris 2024 Olympics, which became the most talked-about moment of the event.
Her unique moves, which include hopping like a kangaroo and slithering across the ground like a snake, did not serve her well in the competition and she faced an onslaught of ridicule as she became a global meme.

Raygun, 36, became an overnight sensation for his comedy routine at the 2024 Paris Olympics, which became the most talked-about moment of the event.
However, his disastrous performance has not prevented the World Dance Sport Federation from elevating Raygun to the number one spot in the world of breakdancers in its latest ranking.
She was named the world’s top b-girl in the September rankings, while Olympic medallists Ami ‘Ami’ Yuasa, Dominika ‘Nicka’ Banevic and Liu ‘671’ Qingyi were all excluded from the list.
The WDSF released a statement to explain how the rankings work, saying points are based on an athlete’s four best performances over the past 12 months, which did not include the Olympics “due to limited athlete quotas.”
The Australian breakdancer is expected to drop out of the current rankings when her points expire at the end of October.
Raygun’s Olympic routine was widely criticised, with some accusing her of “pushing” breakdancing back to the “Dark Ages” and “mocking” the Australian scene.
But Raygun has since passionately defended his routine, blaming a “lack of resources” in Australia and claiming his critics don’t understand his “artistic” style.
“Unfortunately, we just need more resources in Australia to have a chance of beating the world champions,” he shared on The Project.
‘You know, historically, unfortunately, we haven’t had the best record of winning World Championships, so, you know, I don’t think it’s just my fault.’

“However, a lot of the responses are simply due to people not being very familiar with breaking and the diversity of approaches to it,” he continued.
‘It was so fantastic that the next day the president of the jury, MG, came out and explained that in the breaking community what I did was actually not very shocking.
“You know, it’s just a different approach to breaking. You have athletic style breakers and you also have more artistic style breakers and all of them are very valid.”
Although her performance has been widely viewed around the world, Raygun admitted that she has not seen it.
Despite reports that he may be fighting off television offers amid his fame, Raygun said he has no plans to compete again anytime soon in a very surprising career move.
“I don’t think I’ll be able to compete for a while…” he shared.
“Trying to get back into dancing has been quite a process. It’s been hard, really. It was my medicine, and then it became my source of stress!”
