FC Bayern is in the middle of the deepest crisis for many years. Two titles have already been lost, and the Munich team no longer have winning the championship in their own hands with five games to go. In addition, the record champions are also giving a bad picture off the lawn these days. At least that’s what ex-national player Stefan Effenberg thinks, who, among other things, criticizes coach Thomas Tuchel.
With his “honest” and “relentless” words after his team’s defeat in Mainz, Tuchel sent “the wrong signal to Dortmund”, judged Effenberg in his “Sport1” column. The former national player explained what BVB received after Tuchel’s public analysis as follows: “Now they believe that everything is possible.”
However, according to “Effe”, it is not just Tuchel’s words that were well received in Dortmund. Above all, it was the performance of FC Bayern that brought BVB back into the championship race.
“If I look at all the games under Tuchel, two and a half of them were good. Otherwise it was partly bottomless,” wrote the former professional of the record champions, who above all held the players responsible. “The change of coach is more on people’s minds than you thought. But that can’t be an excuse for everything. In the end, the team is also responsible.”
FC Bayern squad “needs to be changed”
For Effenberg, the sporting decline of his former club can only have one consequence: “The Bayern squad definitely needs to be changed.”
There is no question for the “Tiger” where he would start: “If you have eight offensive players and no nine, maybe that’s where the construction site is. Of these eight, a maximum of three can play, the rest are dissatisfied.”
Now, however, the record champions have a good chance to find out “who is playing well and who is leading the way”, Effenberg also sees a great opportunity for Bayern Munich in the current situation.
