Disturbing images have emerged of the final moments of a man who was shot dead in a “brazen” attack.

As his life faded, David Khou’s family and neighbors desperately performed CPR on him before emergency services arrived, but they were unable to save him.

On Monday, detectives revealed the 31-year-old had links to Asian criminal gangs and was a known target for underworld rivals.

After being shot several times while sitting in the passenger side of a car, Khou collapsed in a neighbor’s driveway while his mother and other locals desperately tried to stop the bleeding.

“He was losing a lot of blood, but it was too much for us,” said a neighbor. nine news.

Another added: “I heard bang, bang, bang about three times.” I saw blood and I saw the weapons, which means it’s serious.

The brutal murder happened in front of 10 children, with one shocked father saying his “children shouldn’t have to go through something like this.”

Detective Superintendent Danny Doherty called the fatal shooting brazen and unacceptable.

“It is a very sad and tragic situation regardless of what their history has been or what their ties are,” he said.

“It’s terrible for his family.”

It also revealed Khou had links to Asian organized crime syndicates and was involved in illegal drug trafficking in Sydney.

“People don’t always live fancy, flashy lives, but there are consequences if you’re going to get involved in an organized crime ring,” Detective Doherty said.

“And they end up dead on a Sydney street.”

Shortly after the shooting, the suspected getaway vehicle, a white Audi sedan, was set on fire and destroyed in a park in nearby Wakeley.

“I didn’t get too close because of (the mini explosions coming out of the car),” one resident said.

“And I was a little scared, so I didn’t want to get any closer.”

Police remained at the scene of the shooting Monday, where detectives went door-to-door to talk to potential witnesses about what they saw and heard.

Khou’s car was also removed for forensic testing.

One concerned resident said he was “scared, especially when it’s not something I would personally expect.”

The alleged gunman is still at large as of Monday night, despite a second getaway car being found in nearby Bossley Park later that day.

Police executed a search warrant at a nearby residence Monday morning as part of the Loughrea Strike Force, which was established by the State Crime Command’s Homicide Squad with Fairfield City Police detectives.

The 33-year-old man has been charged with being an accessory to murder

Acting Superintendent Jason Pietruszka said the shooting was a “targeted attack.”

“This is not a random shooting,” he said.

“An unknown person approached from the road, approached the driver’s side window and fired several shots into the window.”

The Canley Heights murder comes just over a month after Comanchero associate Nadal Acherkouk was shot to death in the parking lot of a busy gas station.

Police were called to Baptist Street in the inner-city suburb of Surry Hills after shots were reported just before 8pm on Friday, November 22.

Police found Acherkouk, 31, near the parking lot of a BP gas station on the corner of Crown and Cleveland streets.

The killers wore Batman-style capes as they ran toward him and sprayed him with bullets.

Acherkouk had links to underworld organizations in Sydney and was known to police at the time of his death.

In August, an underworld figure known as the “Angel of Death” was shot dead in a hail of bullets in Sydney’s west, as police admitted there were “too many suspects and too many motives” for the attack on the gangster.

Tarek Ayoub, 29, was shot up to seven times on Harold Street in Parramatta at around 3.30am on August 26.

A chase was launched with at least two armed men who allegedly fled the scene in a stolen Audi sedan before setting it on fire in a street about 4km from the crime scene at around 3.45am.

Witnesses saw them run from the burning car before fleeing in a white SUV.

Detective Doherty said Ayoub was visiting an associate when he was shot “a large number of times” in the parking lot.

He said Ayoub was a known underworld associate with an extensive criminal record and his death “came no surprise” to detectives because “he lived and died by the sword.”
