A sex offender who tried to grope a female train passenger ended up losing his arm when a locomotive ran over him during a fight with a crowd that came to the victim’s aid.
A 22-year-old Tunisian man tried to kiss and grope a 25-year-old woman on a tram in the German city of Stuttgart early Sunday, according to federal police.
Other passengers rushed to the victim’s aid and left the train with their attacker at the next stop at Oesterfeld station in the Vaihingen district.
A fight broke out between the Tunisian, a second man and other passengers on the platform, during which the unknown man reportedly made physical contact with the sex offender, causing him to fall onto the tracks.
The man was hit by a tram and was seriously injured. He was taken to hospital, where one of his arms was amputated during an emergency operation, according to the Reuters news agency. ROE reports.

It is yet to be determined how the Tunisian fell onto the tracks.
Police are reviewing video footage from the platform and train to determine whether the physical altercation between the men was sparked solely by the woman’s sexual harassment or whether it followed a previous argument.
They have launched an investigation into sexual harassment and suspicion of causing grievous bodily harm after the man lost his arm.
It has not been reported what condition the sex offender is in, but it is understood he is still in hospital.
