Tourists trying to get sun loungers received a dose of instant karma when they saw their towels soaked by cleaning staff at a Tenerife hotel.

The images were captured by an upset hotel guest, who was staying at a location notoriously popular with Brits.

The clip, posted on TikTok, illustrated the maneuvers of some guests looking to get a spot next to the pool by placing their towels on empty sun loungers.

In a funny twist of fate, they were caught by the hotel cleaners who, not bothering about the towels, simply removed them to clean the beds and surrounding areas.

Hotel guests’ towels were left completely soaked after diligent cleaners left no stone unturned in their work.

Posting on the social media platform, TikTok user @lshucks asked his followers: ‘Does this serve you well?’

Other users joined the debate and were quick to intervene on the hot topic of whether or not they considered it acceptable to “reserve” sunbeds.

One user wrote: “Maybe just enjoy your vacation instead of worrying about other people’s towels.”

This didn’t seem to amuse the original poster, who responded with more than a hint of sarcasm as he replied, “I am.”

Another comment simply said “nice,” and the user was happy to hear that people were trying to get a head start by putting down their towels early in the day.

The incident comes after the publication of a new study which has revealed that two-thirds of Brits suffer anxiety over getting a sunbed on holiday.

It also showed that 84% of people who manage to get a lounger say they feel physical pain when lying on it.

Other research findings revealed that more than half (51%) believe it is unreasonable for people to “reserve” sun loungers with towels on holiday.
